Adolescent Inpatient Treatment
Covington Behavioral Health Hospital, located in Covington, Louisiana, offers individualized inpatient treatment for adolescents who have been experiencing symptoms of mental health disorders. We serve young people ages 11-17 who are struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, suicidal thoughts, and other mental health concerns. We also serve adolescents who have developed addictions to alcohol and opioids. The typical length of stay in our adolescent inpatient unit is five to seven days. In that time, we provide a customized array of services that can help each adolescent achieve stabilization, with the goal of preparing them to transition to a lower level of care or return home. To accomplish this, we place great emphasis on providing personalized, family-focused care. We know that when a young person struggles with mental health concerns or addiction, it can negatively impact the entire family. For this reason, our focus on personalized service includes caring for our young patients and preparing their parents to best support them in the future. Treatment Approach
At Covington Behavioral Health, we understand that mental health disorders and addiction impact each young person in a unique way. That’s why every adolescent completes a thorough assessment before they start treatment with us. We want to be sure that we have identified the full scope of their needs so that we can develop the personalized plan that is right for them. Depending on the results of an adolescent’s intake assessment, their care may include individual and family therapy, several types of group therapy, medication management, and basic medical care. Treatment may also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and the 12-Step recovery model. Before an adolescent transitions out of our inpatient program, we provide their family with a detailed discharge plan to guide their continued progress.
