The Dorm is an affirming, CARF-Accredited young adult mental health treatment community in New York City on a mission to help young people build a life of independence. We serve young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 with immersive day and evening services that include clinical therapies, practical skill-building and community support. We specialize in treating substance use, trauma, anxiety and depressive disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders and supporting with executive function deficits. Personalized treatment plans scale from 3-30+ hours a week following expert assessment. Comprehensive care encompasses 1:1 therapy (licensed clinicians trained in over 11 clinical modalities including DBT, CBT, EMDR and Cognitive Remediation), individualized life skills coaching, group therapy, family therapy, nutritional support with registered dietitians, academic and vocational services, a unique community clubhouse experience with social activities and events as well as holistic health and wellness services (yoga, mindfulness, physical fitness). Supportive housing opportunities and partial residential support available.

ADHD has become a widely recognized challenge that can be treated medically as well as non-medically. Depending on the child or adult and their specific circumstances and needs, we can help. To assess and diagnose, we have experienced psychiatrists and psychologists on staff. Once diagnosed, if medication is warranted as a part of the treatment plan, the psychiatrist would continue in his/her role as the prescribing physician. He/she would communicate with the other clinicians in the center who, as part of the treatment team, would have non-medical roles in the effective treatment of ADHD and its associated conditions.

2ND ARC now participates in certain insurances. Specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry and women's health, we treat neurodevelopment disorders, ADHD, ODD, mood and anxiety related disorders and self harming behaviors as well as women health issues such as pregnancies, antepartum, postpartum and other disorders. Currently offering medication management, we plan to introduce evidence based therapy treatments. Our programs will target persons at risk of entering a hospital, denied inpatient care or stepping-down from a hospital and transitioning to community. We treat medical conditions such as Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Social Phobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, ADHD, Eating Disorders, school refusal and impulsivity.

We offer proven cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) by experts for anxiety-related problems including obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic, social anxiety, chronic worry, and impulse-control issues (hair pulling, skin picking). Our directors have been trained by recognized national experts in the field. The Reeds Center offers intensive or weekly sessions depending on the needs of a particular individual. Research has shown that symptom reduction is most rapid when sessions occur from two to five times per week for up to two hours per session. We generally suggest starting with a higher frequency and intensity of sessions in order to build and maintain momentum and to see change more rapidly. While the financial and time costs of engaging in intensive treatment can be challenging, many individuals choose this option. Some need this level of support in order to make gains with a severe illness. Others travel from out of town and/or utilize breaks from school or work to lay a solid foundation for recovery within a short time period.
