My work with individuals and families is grounded in helping to support the ever-changing process of growing, learning and finding a meaningful place within a family and the larger community. The challenges we face in an accelerated global culture seem extraordinarily complex for many of us who can often find ourselves overwhelmed with the demands of a non-stop, technology-driven lifestyle with unrealistic expectations. Slowing down long enough to to give needed attention to our priorities and goals can be difficult, but I'm confident that with some reflection and support we can find grounding and clarity as a path towards wellness.

I believe a big part of therapy is understanding the nature of change: how hard it is, what gets in the way, what helps create change. If you're ready and willing and needing to change - I'd love to work with you.

I welcome you as you are. Many of us have lost connection to ourselves, others, and the natural world. Through deep listening I facilitate a space for healing, to help you remember your connection to your wholeness. I provide a space to support the cultivation of self-acceptance through self-inquiry and curiosity to compassionately examine constricting beliefs and/or systems of oppression that impact our natural expression and aliveness. It is possible for you to recover lost or forgotten parts of self that have been exiled by judgement, shame, and pain to find yourself again. Together, we will excavate and uncover.

I see each person’s story as unique, and therefore have an integrative and individualized approach to the therapeutic process. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of the stories we create about our lives, both through experience and in relationship, and I see therapy as an opportunity to reshape our stories.

I care deeply about the relationship I establish with the people who come to see me in therapy. I work hard to provide clients with a safe and non-judgmental environment, in which they can feel comfortable being themselves. I know life can be difficult, but I truly believe that we all have the ability to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Knowing where to begin can be challenging , and that is what I am here for. I always work to meet clients where they are, and create a treatment plan based on their specific needs.

Over my years of experience, I have learned the importance of incorporating emotional healing with body healing. Both are critical to healing the whole self. I will help you learn to start putting yourself first, which leads to improving your relationship both with yourself and those you care about in your life. I believe that self-care is critical on this path. We will work together to figure out your “why”, the reason you are showing up for yourself and reliance in the promises you are making.

Maybe you've thought about what it would be like to talk to a counselor, and you're unsure about the process. You have been in therapy before, and really want to reconnect with a counselor who will be an empathetic supportive listener. Maybe life has given you some recent and intense situations: ongoing pandemic; want to support your child's needs; a divorce; becoming a parent; possibly even suffering depression/anxiety. Right now you are looking for relief, and to simply be alright day to day. You want it to be better, but aren't exactly sure how to get there.

I am a warm and compassionate person who speaks from the heart. I understand that some things are not easy to talk about and sometimes we just don’t know where to start. I do know that the unresolved issues from the past will continue to show up in our lives regardless of how much we try to ignore them. In my work as a trauma specialist, I’ve found that a lot of people are not aware of the impact that these past negative experiences can have on our relationships and day-to-day interactions with others. I am able to help educate clients more about what they’re experiencing.

How can I find a therapist in New Mexico?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
