Are you feeling uncertain whether or not your issues deserve to be shared, or if you want to share them at all? Starting therapy can be scary and exciting at the same time. I will gently guide you to ease into this journey. Gradually, we will together build a warm space for you to relax, express, struggle and grow.
From my years of counseling, I developed a sensitivity to cultural differences and how people suffer from prejudice and micro-aggression. These pains are often hidden. I believe it is the relationship that heals. I may not know 100% of your world, but my willingness to understand and stand by you is 100%.
As an Asian immigrant, I understand the struggles and rewards of adapting to a new culture. My experience as a school counselor adds to my expertise in reaching troubled teenagers and helping frustrated parents. If you are reading this, you already started your first (and the hardest) step. Congrats! Let me to be your ally, gentle challenger and witness.

Groups
Support Group for Chinese students in the U.S.
Many Chinese international students in the U.S. face various family-related challenges. You might feel the need to constantly address your parents/relatives' concerns, and missing a call could lead to blame and complaints. Or the opposite, you feel hurt and alone because there is little emotional support. Our group offers a safe space for you to gain a deeper understanding of the unique family dynamics within the Chinese community. Here, you can explore possible solutions to your own family relationship challenges, and you won't be alone. We take most insurances. The facilitator is Harrison (Hongyu) Ma.
