My work has focused on clients in their teens, young adulthood and middle adulthood navigating life transitions, overlapping identities, and relational issues. My work has focused on mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder primarily), anxiety disorders, trauma and issues related to gender identity and sexuality. My clinical experience has provided me with the opportunity to work with people of a wide set of backgrounds and issues.
The therapeutic alliance (relationship between client and therapist) is one of the most significant predictors of success in therapy. I strive to develop an alliance with each client that can closely facilitate strength, growth, or self-knowledge. Such an alliance can encompass fully open communication and provide a space to unearth new self realizations.
My practice draws on the teachings of Carl Rogers, but is essentially eclectic, drawing on cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic techniques to best suit the needs of each client. I strive to collaboratively meet the needs of each client with respect to the duration of treatment, treatment approach, and many other aspects of treatment.
