Sometimes we come to therapy knowing exactly what is bothering us and what we hope to change. Other times, we can tell that something doesn’t feel as it should but are having trouble naming what that is. Either is a great place to begin. Together, we can look at your experience with a deepening curiosity to figure out what is getting in the way of what you want. No two therapies are exactly alike because no two people are exactly alike, but in general I work from a relational, collaborative, conversational model. I view my role as listening deeply to help you listen more deeply to yourself.
I often see new and expecting parents, individually or as couples. Parenting stirs up the sediment of our own past, giving us the chance to make new sense of ourselves and to set new patterns for our children. This makes pregnancy and parenthood rich times for psychotherapy, when profound growth is possible.
I also work with many artists and others seeking a greater sense of aliveness in a world that offers endless options for numbing out in the face of inevitable suffering.
