The goal in therapy is not to erase the past but is to foster a new way of approaching the present and building the future. Whether you are struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, or another form of suffering, the goal of therapy is to gain or regain a quality of life that is fulfilling, meaningful, and vital. Where pain can be alleviated, therapy will focus on enabling that change. Where pain is unavoidable, therapy will focus on fostering a new, more workable relationship with that pain. The goal of each of these efforts is to reorient you toward your values and, in that direction, set in motion your journey toward healing.
I am a board certified clinical psychologist specializing in PTSD, traumatic loss, and moral injury. I provide Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy, the two gold-standard treatments for PTSD. My expertise is in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and I have developed ACT programs for moral healing, resilience, and posttraumatic growth.
I received my graduate education at Palo Alto University where I completed my clinical training at the Palo Alto VA and the National Center for PTSD. I have since worked at the Houston VA and the Army medical center on Fort Hood. I am currently a psychologist at the VA North Texas Health Care System in addition to my private practice in Southlake.
