Stress. Anxiety. Relationship problems. Depression. Overwhelm. Burn Out... Sometimes we are just going along and the life we had always been pretty happy with, seems to start unraveling at the seams. Maybe it had slowly been getting worse, or something big happened to knock it off track... but whatever happened, it sucks and now you need some help getting back to feeling your best... I want to be that help. I believe that everyone is the expert in their own life, but sometimes, we just need a little help to get through the rough times!

I have a real love for what I do. I enjoy working with people, and respect them as the individuals that they are. At different times everyone is in need of extra support and understanding to aid in what I would call "life". These experiences cannot always be avoided, but they can be overcome. Reaching out is sometimes the hardest part of getting help. I get that! I am no stranger to life challenges, family challenges, suicide, and many other unavoidable (and sometimes, avoidable) circumstances. For what ever reason, sometimes professional help is needed.

Do your friends tell you that you need to cut down the amount you drink, or use? Often awake when you'll be asleep? Don't have enough energy to even eat sometimes? Are you often lonely and stressed? Are you often angry? Do you see or hear things other people don't see or hear? I can help you. My clinical style is to meet you where you're, understand your strengths, needs, weaknesses, stuck points and treat you considering the mind, body and spirit (Holistic). I apply respect, collaboration, encouragement, and sensitivity in working with clients. I take your cultural world view into consideration when working with you.

I work with teens and adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready for something to shift. My clients often come to me navigating anxiety, depression, grief, or major life transitions whether that’s starting college, changing careers, ending a relationship, or simply reevaluating their path forward. Many of the people I work with are motivated to feel better but aren’t sure where to start. They value a direct, collaborative approach and are looking for practical tools not just insight, but real strategies they can use in daily life.

The curious paradox is that, when I accept myself as I am, then I can change.-Carl Rogers If this resonates, you're not alone. Many struggle with wanting change while feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve. Perhaps you're overwhelmed, navigating transitions, or carrying heavy burdens alone. Healing begins not with harsh self-criticism, but with gentle self-acceptance. What drew me to counseling is my belief that people need connection to realize their innate ability to change their world. When someone feels truly seen and understood, they naturally tap into their own wisdom and strength.

I help Wyoming families and individuals who are facing issues related to grief and loss, trauma, relationship issues, addiction, and performance enhancement. I have 24 years of professional experience working with families, couples, and individuals who are experiencing professional and professional challenges. I utilize a systemic approach, exploring a patient or a couples' "family or origin" to identify who their childhood and early adult experiences contribute to their current dilemmas. I help patients develop new behaviors and interaction styles that promote/support the life and relationships they are desiring now.

I use emotionally focused, trauma informed, sex therapy approaches to help my client(s) understand their sexual relationships, make needed changes, & regain the intimate aspects of their lives.
You are successful. Others often make comments about how "perfect your life is" because from the outside they see someone with a perfect marriage, great kids, and a wonderful job. But on the inside you feel anything but perfect. You are struggling to keep your head above water, you haven't felt connected to your spouse in months, sex has disappeared and you no longer have the energy to even try to initiate intimacy. You're frustrated with most or all areas of your life and feel like you have no one to turn to that will understand.

I’m Tanya Meek, a dedicated therapist with a passion for guiding individuals through their healing journeys. My practice has also been shaped by my experiences with autoimmune disease, both personally and through watching my clients navigate their health challenges. Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
