You don’t have to hold it all together. I support children, teens, young adults, and families navigating trauma, emotional overwhelm, and recovery from self-harm or substance use. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive—rooted in EMDR, DBT, and family systems work. Clients say I bring clarity and compassion to hard conversations. If you're looking for a therapist who “gets it” and creates space for real healing, I’d be honored to walk with you.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or exhausted by the weight of things—please know that you don't have to carry it alone. It’s time to find your way back to balance and peace. Hi! I'm Alicia, I work with clients in Wyoming and Idaho via tele-therapy. Over my 5 years of practice, I have transformed and bloomed as a counselor because of my clients and their stories, many filled with trauma and growth. I profoundly believe that clients change me, just as much as I attempt to change them. Your story deserves to be told! Let me help you turn whatever ashes you have into blooms!

My ideal client is a person, couple, or family who knows that there are hard questions to be asked and is seeking a neutral, caring, and engaging third party to offer authentic insights and ask the hard questions.
I believe humans are story tellers and I aim to help people tell their story, rewrite it if necessary, and plan their future chapter outlines. The use of metaphors, activation of the poly-vagal system, and the development of distress tolerance skills lends for a unique and lasting experiential learning environment for my clients.

In providing services to clients, there is no preset ideas of what will be discussed in session. Client determines the direction the session goes and what is worked on, how it is worked on and when it is worked on. Client sets the pace of the session and the direction each session goes in. Client has control of what happens in session when it comes to topics discussed and issues worked on. If a client hits a topic they are not ready to address, it will be set aside until the client is ready to address the issue.

Hello! I became a counselor because I know what it means to start again. To be human is to carry both hope and heaviness - I’ve learned that the most powerful transformations begin with tiny moments of courage and vulnerability. As a former educator, school counselor, and now therapist, I bring a unique background to my approach. Sacred Start Counseling was born out of my own healing. Oftentimes, we excel at human-DOING but not human-BEING. I am here to help with your human-BEING.

At CornerStone Counseling, we understand life is a mix of beauty and struggles, and seasons of change. It’s during the storms that we need more than awareness of our situation, we need support, guidance, and tools to help us heal. Clients often seek therapy because they feel overwhelmed from trying to push through life on their own. We all heal in different ways, which is why we believe in a person-centered approach. Our work adapts to your pace and individualized needs, not from a confined one-size-fits-all mindset. Therapy here is about being seen, understood, and supported with real-life tools that last and carry you forward.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
