I am a trauma -informed therapist who believes many of our problems come from how we respond to or avoid difficult thoughts, memories, feelings, and experiences. Anxiety, depression, grief, and uncertainty can all be a part of life. What is important is learning how to navigate them so they don't take control. Are you suffering from anxiety, worry, depression, or grief? Have you suffered trauma ? Are you feeling overwhelmed, losing hope, or just wanting things to be different? You're not alone, and I believe you can make it through.

My interest lies in working with individuals who isolate, have lost interest in the things they once enjoyed, and/or who think this world would be better off without them. I'm also interested in working with individuals who are tired of worrying, or want to be more social. And last, but not least, I take interest in working with individuals who “just want to be normal,” who can’t sleep for fear of having another nightmare, or who feel damaged because of a violation of their personal safety. In summary, I am interested in working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and PTSD / trauma .

I believe that many people think humans are always supposed to be happy- and that if they are not, something is wrong. I recognize nothing is “wrong” with a person who experiences pain or suffering, because pain and adversity are normal parts of being human. I practice a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients learn how to manage their thoughts and emotions without suppressing them, in order to make values-based decisions. I additionally practice EMDR to help individuals safely reprocess traumatic experiences that impact their emotional health and well-being.

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves stuck in patterns of relating to ourselves, others, and the world around us. Those ways of being may have once helped us get by, but now we struggle to free ourselves from the grip of the past. At other times, we might feel lost, uncertain where we steered off course or how to get back on track. Maybe it's as if we're trapped in a long, dark tunnel, doubting if we will ever get out and see light again. Frustrated, empty, alone, afraid, discouraged... Reaching out in times like these can be extremely difficult, but may be exactly what we need.

I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced trauma .
I believe that most people who see a counselor are not psychologically abnormal. My clients are having normal reactions to a complex, stressful, ever-changing world. No matter the problem, people cope in the best way they know how. My job is simply to help you become more effective in your coping. Because so many people have busy schedules, I provide services in the evenings so that my clients don't have to create any more stress in their lives.

I find it important to meet people where they are in life. Taking the steps towards healing and change is not easy. Exploring values and identifying barriers gives a path towards the things you may want in life. My favorite question to ask is “What do YOU want?”, followed by my second which is “What are YOU doing to get there?” With those two questions you and

I'm also trained in Brainspotting, which is a form of trauma therapy.
None of my clients are failures or broken because they choose to come to counseling. In fact, I believe everyone grows up learning unspoken rules about what they should and shouldn’t do as a decent human being, when in reality, there’s a lot of rules that simply need to be readjusted. If you're currently struggling with your past, present, or future, let me take some of the burden off your shoulders. I currently am scheduling individual adults, college students, and teenagers. I especially love to help individuals struggling with dating/relationships issues and folks with low self-esteem/confidence.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
