My philosophy of therapy is that it is collaborative, person centered, and strengths-based process that has the ability to transform individual’s lives. Life is about transitions and change, and therapy can provide a safe place to learn skills to cope with these inevitable parts of life. My therapy style is to provide support and a non-judgmental stance to provide a safe place to process life’s difficulties.

Therapy is an incredibly vulnerable process that involves stripping down the emotional armor we have collected over years of struggle, insecurity, or fear. For some the idea of therapy feels like the sweetest release and for others this idea feels incredibly intimidating. Often times, individuals present for their first sessions after an acute stressor, a period of prolonged distress, or even a previously failed treatment. Regardless of the precipitating factor, people often enter therapy when they feel hurt and alone. Many come with bruised hearts and tired souls, uncertain of what their struggles mean about their ability to heal.
The last couple of years have definitely been challenging and stressful. I have found that most people fall into three categories: survival, acceptance, or growth. My idea client is someone who wants change; someone who is seeking growth. They are tired of being in a victim mindset. These individuals are seeking something different than what the traditional talk therapies offer them. They are ready to move to the next level. My role is their guide. As a guide, I work to empower clients to overcome stress and life's challenges. The process is involves healing, discovery, and learning of valuable life lessons along the way.
I am compassionate and nonjudgmental and will offer the support you need to overcome life's difficulties. We are all different in the way we experience and manage life. I have always been interested in the wellness of others and have been blessed to watch many people find recovery. If you are feeling discouraged, overwhelmed, worried or sad, then together we can discover or revisit your healthy options to navigate those feelings. You have taken a step in the right direction to navigate those feelings and to reach out for help. Connection to others allows us to find peace and improved quality of life.

Many times clients want to know my "style" of therapy- and while I am always working within the parameters of the models in which I am trained, I also do my very best to be relatable, down-to-earth, and human in my sessions. I allow and even appreciate free expression of emotion-cursing permitted- no need to worry about offending your therapist!
My clients are individuals who have experienced a loss, and are often in a transition in their lives. Depression, anxiety, trauma, death, miscarriage, infertility, addiction related-loss, suicide-related loss, divorce, or surprise DNA results are a few of the hurdles my clients are experiencing. In times like these, life can feel disorienting and it may be hard to know which direction is up. My approach to therapy is to help you sort out the goodness and strengths already within you to encourage introspection and confidence. Identifying your values, we will work together to make life more manageable again.

Losing a loved one can be the most difficult time in your life. Emotions are often surprising in their strength or mildness. Grief often breaks a person completely from the inside out. Grieving is hard work, you can get worn out, and feel battered. It can take a lot longer to work through grief than most people realize. People around you may think it’s helpful for you to not talk or cry or focus on your loss but actually, this is just what people need to do. The goal is to not stay stuck, to move through it—and this is part of the process. Grief doesn’t get better by ignoring it and trying to ‘get over it.’
