I am here to help you heal the distress you are feeling coming from anxiety , depression addiction, trauma, PTSD or family problems. It can be hard to connect with a therapist at first. You don't know this person and how are you going to feel trusting and secure with a stranger? Yet you are in pain and need help. It is just a first step, one that does not have to lead to commitment. You are in charge and are simply "auditioning" to see if this connection feels good and helpful.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, you are not alone. Many of us feel like something is wrong, fear we aren’t good enough, or worry we are failing. We try our best to push these feelings aside. However, our insecurities tend to find their way back. We want to be confident and secure; capable of loving who we are. Our fears of judgement or rejection make it difficult to ask for help. It seems like admitting we can’t do it all on our own is a weakness or flaw. It is not. You don’t have to struggle alone. You need to have someone in your corner, rooting for you. Everyone deserves a safe place to share their story and receive validation.

I work with couples and individuals who deal with trauma, stress, anxiety , depression, and relationship issues.
I'm all about balance. When things are out of balance, life can leave you feeling depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed. I'm a great listener, but with that said, my approach to counseling is active and highly individualized. I believe your personality (nature) and experiences (nurture) form the landscape of your identity. I will often weave together different modalities like DBT, CBT, Schema Therapy, and art in order to be responsive to what is revealed from the unconscious and help you bring it to light. If you're a seeker, whatever the struggles you are facing that have led you to search for help, I'm glad you're reaching out!

With years of experience in counseling people with depression, anxiety , stress, substance abuse, and trauma.
Currently accepting new clients. Modern life can be a complicated and frightening thing. Daily there are news reports of catastrophes, rising economic problems, war, disasters, and the trials of every day living. Continuing issues from the pandemic, with teens and many adults feeling isolated due to the feelings of loss associated with it. Fear of the unknown, and concerns over modern life. Feeling as though you are alone, depressed, and anxious in a ever fast paced world. But hope still exists, it helps you to thrive in this modern world as opposed to just surviving. Hope is there waiting for you to find it, and help you through.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
