Trauma-informed therapy for sexual abuse, pregnancy/prenatal/postpartum, substance abuse, and women's issues.
You may look “fine” on the outside, but inside your nervous system feels like it is always on duty. You might be carrying trauma from sexual abuse, feeling anxious, numb, on edge, or stuck in patterns you cannot explain. Maybe sleep is light, your patience is thin, and your mind will not shut off. You may be navigating pregnancy, postpartum, or grief after loss, or trying to support a partner while you are falling apart too. You want relief, steadiness, and practical tools, plus a safe place to rebuild boundaries, self-trust, and a life that feels like yours again.

It can be difficult to reach out for help and even more difficult to admit that you could use some guidance. When you are struggling, having someone in your corner to help you overcome the hurdles in your journey can be helpful. I take a holistic approach, focusing on the symptoms you identify and how they affect you in all areas of your life. We will work as a team to figure out the root cause and find the healthiest ways to cope. The treatment plan will be individualized to YOU, as no two people are exactly the same. Much of our work together will focus on how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact with one another.

I know at times life can seem confusing or even impossible. I believe with every fiber of my being we all have the answers we need. Somehow we get separated from our core strength. You are the expert on you, you alone hold your truth. I am interested in your story and use the description, "enlightened witness" as a way to describe some of what I do in my work as a therapist and healer. I see myself as a fellow traveler, a helper, and a companion who "holds the lantern" to help guide people to move out of dark places and into their truth.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working with clients in their early 20s to late 50s. Clients often come to their first session feeling stuck and uncertain about how to attain the life they want. Relationships and career stressors contribute to anxiety, leaving them confused about how to move forward. In therapy, I work with clients to value themselves, tune into their desires and dreams, and move in that direction. The first step toward change is often learning to treat ourselves with the same love and care we would show to a valued friend.

You've been holding it all together for so long and hav forgotten what it feels like to not carry the weight. Maybe you became the family's go-to person before you even had a choice. The caretaker who can't say no, even when you're running on empty. You take it all on because that's what you do- but it's exhausting. And if you're navigating motherhood, whether you're trying to conceive, pregnant, postpartum, or grieving a loss, you know how isolating that transition can feel. Everyone expects you to be glowing and grateful, but what you're actually feeling is so much more complicated than that.

My clients call on me when they’re dealing with depression and anxiety. If you find yourself often thinking you're not good enough, or feeling disconnected from your own value, you're not alone—and there is hope. Parents are most likely to reach out when they see changes in their child’s mood or behavior and when the entire family begins to struggle because one person is really hurting.

You may be high-functioning on the outside but feel exhausted, anxious, or disconnected on the inside. You’re tired of living in survival mode and want to feel more at home in your body, your relationships, and your life. I work especially well with clients who understand their trauma intellectually but still feel stuck emotionally or physically. Together, we explore healing through a mind–body lens, recognizing that the nervous system seeks safety before growth. Your symptoms once protected you—now it’s time to help your body learn that safety can exist in the present.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
