My professional concentration has been in the areas of: domestic violence, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, PTSD, OCD, "transitional issues" and problem gambling.
My approach in counseling is somewhat holistic and eclectic. I believe a supportive counseling environment works to help a client achieve awareness, thus leading to healing and personal growth. My role is to help clients explore their emotional needs and provide feedback. Hopefully, the value will be realized in both behavioral and emotional changes. Under all circumstances, my mission is to treat the client with the utmost regard and honor the human condition as it is. Counseling hours are available most days at your convenience. Often clients are able to schedule an appointment with 24 hours of calling my office.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( OCD), Anxiety, and Phobias often take up space rent free in our mind making us act or behave a certain way to feel better.
Like the name of my practice, I believe individuals are also capable of blooming throughout even the most difficult of circumstances. During our sessions together we will work to help you gain the skills needed to turn down the volume on the thoughts, face your fears, and become the driver of your own bus again.

Leaning heavily into Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, I help clients build skills to manage generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder ( OCD), and a range of fears/phobias (needle, blood, heights, animals, etc.).
I take an integrative approach to therapy, and frequently use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy. ERP is the top-tier, evidence-based approach for the majority of anxiety disorders. Through supportive connection and partnership, I believe recovery is possible; and I am enthusiastic about being a part of that process. Having graduated from Shippensburg University with a BA in Psychology, I obtained my Masters in Social Work after working in the mental health field for over a decade. My experience includes working through symptoms of trauma, anxiety, schizophrenia, depression, bipolar, and other mood disorders. I passionately serve folks on the autism spectrum, and in the LGBTQ+ and aging populations. I also recognize and enjoy the challenges that come with working with diverse populations.

Through trust and practical strategies, they gain confidence in managing OCD, improving relationships, or navigating ADHD.
I work with women in early adulthood who are navigating major life transitions while developing a clearer sense of self. Many notice a constant hum of anxiety, getting stuck in looping thoughts, or having intense reactions to seemingly small events, leaving themselves tense, restless, or unsure how to respond. Anxiety, perfectionism, attentional or executive function differences, and early childhood experiences can all add to these overwhelming feelings; we can work together to manage them.

Life brings challenges, and everyday stressors can disrupt our sense of balance. Sometimes fear keeps us from pursuing our goals, or anxiety makes even simple tasks feel overwhelming. Talking with someone about these experiences can open the door to strategies that ease stress and help you move forward with confidence. Over the course of my career, I’ve developed a wide range of tools to support individuals and families. My aim is for every session to leave you with at least five practical techniques—simple, discreet strategies you can use anytime, anywhere—for both immediate relief and lasting resilience.

How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
