Prioritizing your health, both physical and mental, is a sign of strength. I have spent the majority of my career working with survivors of various traumas and felt honored to observe the dedication of my clients to live the fulfilling and healthy life they deserve. Traumas can manifest in unexpected ways: relationship difficulties, depression/anxiety, academic/workplace obstacles, low self-esteem, etc.. I can support you in identifying these trends, processing the underlying causes, and ending unhealthy habits. You can do this; I can help.

For over twenty years, I have strived to provide a safe, quiet space for children and adults to come and talk about the things with which they are struggling. Fred Rogers once said, "All our lives, we rework the things from our childhood, like feeling good about ourselves, managing our angry feelings, and being able to say good-bye to the people we love." This quote is particularly poignant as today's world becomes more and more challenging for both children and adults. My work aims to help others find the inner strength and resilience to navigate whatever challenges they have experienced or the ones that may lie ahead.

Accepting Clients 12 years of age + ! Finding the right therapist can be difficult. I have over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health and integrated holistic approaches. As a child. I was interested in the mind, medicine, and alternative healing. I was eager to learn about these topics and devoured myself in literature on these topics. Very spiritually driven as a child, I began my lifelong path of helping others. From a very young age I understood that the mind and body are connected.

Have YOU ever..... 1) Struggled with slowing down, being present and grounded? 2) Been told “who to be, what to do, how to act?” 3) Found it difficult to listen or trust your own intuition? I have also been there. And, when all of the above began pulling me further out of alignment, I made a choice that I no longer wanted to live in a world where my truth and my voice were not being seen, heard, valued, or respected. With me in YOUR corner, you’ll be able to let go of any resistance, build a deeper understanding of your sense of self, rediscover who you are underneath it all, and learn how to relax and release any fears.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
