I have over 25 years of mental health and addiction treatment experience. My goal is to make each person comfortable in their life, be who they are, to feel confident and live a fulfilled life. I work with adults who struggle with relational challenges both with themselves and others which often results in symptoms of depression, anxiety, shame and more. Through both assessment and psychotherapy, I help people identify the contributing factors to why they feel the way they do so they are able to gain insight around what affects them and how they might respond differently in the future. My goal is to collaborate with patients so that they can build a repertoire of language around their emotional experience while building new relational skills so that they can be their own advocate and improve the way they feel.

My approach as a therapist is to work in a collaborative manner to explore underlying thought and behavioral habits that cause stress. Through continuous efforts to apply oneself in this direction, many find unwanted habits begin to exert less of an influence on one's life and a steady growth of relieving qualities of mind can emerge: a sense of connectedness, resilience, flexibility, care, purpose, and wisdom. I work from a relational orientation. This entails examining styles of relating to oneself, others, the world, and at times even examining the therapy relationship itself.

"My area of specialization is in working with adults with trauma, PTSD, overwhelming stress, anxiety, and depression related problems. I have worked and am trained extensively with issues of PTSD, Narcissistic Abuse, infidelity/betrayal (attachment traumas), past abuse, grief, combat, and past events that can create distress. Many events in the past can have a traumatic effect which can carry over and create problems in the here and now. I also have extensive experience working with Military, Veterans, and Family Members. When we struggle with depression, anxiety, pain from the past, or traumatic stress, our relationships struggle too. Often the pain experienced in relationships with our loved ones is what drives us to find relief and solutions from the disconnect and disruption we are in the midst of. We don't just want to feel better, we want to be better: Better to ourselves, better to those we love. Engaging in therapy and neurofeedback is about looking for the solutions that will enable us to move beyond the obstacles and into the connections we really desire.

Healing involves turning toward those places in us that we’d rather turn away from—those places that shame or pain has shut down or disconnected. This may sound counterintuitive, because there are good reasons for turning from those places of pain. But you already know how this kind of truncated life diminishes your ability to thrive. As a somatic psychotherapist I recognize the body as a powerful communicator and holder of story. Getting back down into the body to feel what you feel and know what you know leads to greater imagination, energy, and wholeness.

We all have an innate ability to heal, and healing often begins once we learn to acknowledge all aspects of ourselves with compassion and understanding, including parts of ourselves we consider unwanted or unacceptable. I will hold respectful space for all of your feelings and help you develop tools and somatic (body) awareness, so that you have an easier time moving through anxiety, pain and confusion, and resolving trauma (any experience that has "hijacked" our emotions or altered the response of our nervous system), so that you can find fulfillment in your life and relationships.
