Hi, I'm Emily Matthew - Psychotherapist, Artist, and Human of the Tanana Valley in Fairbanks, Alaska. I help clients improve their self-esteem, relationships, and quality of life through relational approaches. As an artist I have a special curiosity of light and my work with clients often involves finding the light, the strength, within themselves to help them navigate their world. By using my own humanness - humor, kindness, and authentic self - I create a safe and nurturing environment for clients to be themselves while also encouraging them to dig deeper to create better understanding of self.
My areas of focus are child and family issues, child emotional/behavioral challenges, body image concerns, LGBTQ+ and general other-ness, and unsubscribing from diet culture. I have worked with the full spectrum of ages including children, teens, and adults. My style is direct, honest, expressive and there is a lot of back and forth in sessions.
