I have over 12 years of experience working with people with SPMI and other mental illnesses. My approach is didactic, eclectic and client-centered; as I feel that there is not one method to assist people with reaching wellness and wholeness. I do not take the expert role. I feel that each person and family have strengths that are undiscovered to better handle the challenges in life. I have worked with children, teens, and adults. I am dedicated in ensuring best practices in the treatment of mental health and co-occurring disorders.
I have been trained in a variety of interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Solution Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
My practice is culturally and spiritually sensitive; where other therapist may have empathy for cultural issues, I have actually experience them so I am able to render practical techniques rather than idealistic techniques. I also am connected with religious organization.
