Thay have issues with depression, and their needs are to have coping skills to get past the loss of their loved one. Their goal is to receive help and willing to work on their issues. I am able to talk about their loved one and remind them of the good times and memories to help alleviate their sadness.
I can help because I am compassion and give them the coping skill. I am certified in EMDR if necessary to help them get past the loss. If they like to read, I will provide them with relevant reading materials and have discussions concerning what was learned from the material.
I would demonstrate empathy to them and let them understand I would be available to them any time as long as I am not in session with another client. I will ensure that they understand that they ae not going through the grieving process alone. I would encourage them to write letters to their departed loved ones.
