Welcome! My name is Bill, and I appreciate your visiting my profile. I've been a licensed psychologist for the past 23 years and have enjoyed assisting a wide variety of clients in not only feeling better but also living better lives. This can mean developing strategies to deal with depression or anxiety, healing from past trauma, and enhancing relationships at home, work, and in the community.
In order to set goals, it is important for me to obtain a clear understanding of why you are seeking therapy. This also involves completing a detailed history so we can include the impact of life events, culture, or traumatic events as we work together on goal setting. This all happens in a manner that is supportive to you and at a pace that feels safe.
The first session is very important as it sets the tone for our work together. I'll make sure there is no urgent crisis and then proceed to review confidentiality and informed consent. Then, I'll obtain information on what you would like to work on as well as historical information.
