I believe you are here because you want a change, and change can be difficult. I believe change is hard because through life we have learned to avoid difficult emotions, thoughts, and situations. Avoidance can come in many forms including distractions, substance use, and opting out of what is important to you. While the avoidance helps in the immediate, it can lead us away from those things that mean the most to us which can leave us feeling stuck and defeated. As an ACT therapist, my goal is to give you the abilities to be with your difficult experiences, while you engage in actions and behaviors that move you towards your values.
I see myself as a compassionate and curious counselor who is passionate about working with adults who are struggling with Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression. I utilize several modalities, including EMDR, to help clients process traumatic or difficult experiences, develop insight and awareness, increase emotional regulation, and change self-defeating behaviors.
