About
Folks that come to me for support struggle to manage the thoughts and feelings that lead to relapse and mental health crises. My experience tells me that these folks feel disconnected from themselves and their community. Establishing connectivity to their friends, family, and their broader social setting is crucial for wellness and for healing. Everyone has the goal of contentment and peace of mind, and substance abuse more than most challenges undermines the fulfillment of these basic needs. To heal and prosper, substance abusers and trauma survivors need to practice self care in the bio psychosocial-spiritual way of life.
I utilize evidence-based, person-centered, and strengths-based techniques to support folks to relax and problem solve. I am a true believer in the therapeutic value of mindfulness-based stress reduction, which helps one to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and heal. I use a variety of evidenced based perspectives to help folks meet their goals.
I have a lot of practical experience in helping folks manage stress to avoid the dangerous reactions of relapse and other self-harming behaviors. I view triggers and cravings as unresolved stress, and I can help you find relief from the suffering of entering and managing early recovery. I can also help you avoid relapse throughout recovery.
