I am a State of Texas Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I obtained both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Texas at Austin. I accomplished this after a previous career that included being a union representative. My own life experiences drew me to social work and I have worked for many years in various forms of addiction treatment. I work with clients with the understanding that “It’s not what’s wrong with you but it’s what happened to you.”
My style is strengths based, collaborative, and I recognize the dignity of the individual while facilitating the healing from issues including addiction, trauma, attachment, and mood and anxiety disorders. I have found that core beliefs can contribute to ineffectual coping skills, as well as difficulties in life transitions and with grief and loss.
I use a range of treatment modalities that include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy, psychodynamic, attachment based, mind-body, narrative therapy, and person-centered therapies.
