I have experience working with adolescents and adults in both individual and group settings, including athletes and performers navigating high-pressure environments.
Currently accepting new clients! Starting therapy can feel intimidating — but it can also be one of the most meaningful investments you make in yourself. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are: no pressure, no judgment, just honest conversation and real growth. I am a doctoral student at the APA-accredited Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology with a Master's degree in Counseling and Guidance with a concentration in Human Services. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, cultural humility, and authentic connection!

Clients deserve to have a safe space to discover options for their healing journey. Clients, regardless of needs and goals all have one thing in common; grief. The idea of losing someone, something, or a unexpected change in life brings upon the grieving process. It is not expected that everyone suffers alone and in silence; this is only the goal of stigma. Bring all of the hurt, guilt, shame, desperation, and pain to the safe space of therapy and use it as a stepping stone on your own carved path to overall health and wellness in mind, body, and spirit.

I look forward to helping teenagers and early career professionals.
Hello, my name is Jacob. I am a psychotherapist, substance abuse counselor, and educator in Wisconsin. I work with students dealing with anxiety, trauma, mood concerns, and academic stress. Many are navigating neurodivergence in different areas of life. We often start by slowing things down and focusing on how here and now experiences connect to larger patterns. With careful listening, thoughts become clearer and more manageable. We build a strong, authentic connection so you can show up as yourself. My work includes EMDR, existential approaches, and other evidence-based practices.

I realize that we all are on our own journey and deserve to be treated as individuals with compassion, kindness, and understanding. It can be easy to lose our way, lose hope, and I feel passionate about helping others find peace, acceptance, and ultimately one's own strengths to navigate stressful situations. Depression, anxiety, changes of life, family/parenting, interpersonal relationships and so much more can make hope and a way through struggles overwhelming. I strive to help each individual find their inner strengths and strategies for overcoming those barriers that can feel insurmountable.

I see adults, teens, and kiddos ages 7+.
I specialize in trauma/complex trauma, religious trauma, spiritual abuse, cult & high-control group recovery, and exploring or reclaiming spirituality after spiritual abuse. I also focus on OCD and scrupulosity (aka "religious" or "moral" OCD), grief, and existential concerns. Often, these concerns make it feel like you're not where you want to be in life and you might find yourself spiraling about how to move forward. Together, we will work to figure out next steps and strategies that put you back in the driver's seat.

I became a psychotherapist because I believe deeply in the human capacity to heal, grow, and create meaningful change. For me, therapy is a collaborative process- one where we work together to understand the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and uncover new ways of approaching life with greater clarity and compassion. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and centered on building a safe, supportive relationship. I know that reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, and I strive to create a therapeutic experience where you feel genuinely seen and understood.

At Heart Line Counseling, we believe that there's no greater force behind therapeutic growth then the connection between a client and a provider. As such, my services focus on fostering and facilitating that connection. In session, we'll work to build awareness of the sources of dysfunction in one's life, learn to recognize reoccurring patterns of behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, and help clients come to a greater understanding of themselves.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
