I have had additional training and am certified in Treating Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents and in Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Treatment.
Many of the individuals I work with feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about their relationships or life direction. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, difficult relationships or family dynamics, chronic stress, or PTSD. As a Clinical Social Worker, I help adults move toward greater health, balance, and a stronger sense of self. I have a particular interest in helping people gain clarity about their relationships—whether romantic, family, or work-related—and exploring whether those relationships have the capacity to grow into a healthier place and what changes may be needed to support that growth.

I’m Cassie—mom, wife, clinician, and small business owner. I came into this work because I saw too many people silently struggling—feeling alone, overwhelmed, and weighed down by unrealistic expectations. I focus on helping individuals who struggle with emotional regulation—learning how to recognize and understand big feelings, and develop healthier ways to cope. Over time, I've noticed a common thread across all ages and stages: many people were never taught how to understand or regulate their emotions. The same overwhelm that shows up in women during life transitions often appears in children anxiety, shutdown, or outbursts.

My journey to becoming a therapist started after returning home from a combat deployment, experiencing a devastating divorce and years of readjustment difficulties. During these deeply personal experiences, I became aware of the hurt and the brokenness we all face and now have a deep desire to help others to overcome as I did. I am passionate about helping couples find reconciliation and negotiating relationship pitfalls. As well as working with clients to heal from past trauma, manage their anxiety/depression, regulate anger or learn to value themselves again. You don't have to face it alone, there is hope.

The number one thing that makes therapy work is the connection between client and therapist. I want to understand what's happening with you so that I can put my skills to good use and help you to meet your therapy goals. My methods are based on scientific research and on my professional experience as a therapist. Many of the techniques I use with clients are techniques that I have applied in my own life to reduce my own suffering and improve my own happiness. I practice much of what I preach, so I know firsthand that these methods work.

I love being a therapist and having the privilege of helping people heal, grow, and discover (or re-discover) their purpose in life. It takes tremendous courage to share with another person what you want to change about yourself. I feel that my role is to be a compassionate guide and facilitator to help you learn about yourself, your roots, your helpful and unhelpful personal habits and patterns with others. I use art, music, psychodrama, dreamwork, intuition and active listening to help you challenge yourself and become the sort of person you want to be in the world.

Life is messy. The good news is, we all have the ability to navigate through the mess. Whatever you’re going through and however you’re feeling, you don’t have to be alone in it. We all encounter situations every day that shape the way our brains and bodies think, feel and respond. It can be helpful to pause and gain insight on how we move through life and how we might want to change or fortify certain patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors to more closely reflect our genuine selves.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
