Relationships aren't always easy... At times they may be our greatest source of ease and joy, but every couple knows that they can also be our greatest source of frustration and struggle. You may be asking yourself, "How did we get here?" or "How are we ever going to make this better?" Reaching out for help may not be easy either, but it's an acknowledgment that your happiness and your relationship are worth fighting for, and that's a good place to start. I'll help you to 1) Look with clarity at what has come between you, and 2) Do the vital work to rebuild trust, understanding, love, and intimacy in your relationship.

I love supporting all sorts of clients, including parents (both moms and dads!) navigating the beautiful, exhausting chaos of family life, couples seeking to truly understand one another again, and men who are ready to let down their guard and embrace a deeper kind of strength through vulnerability, as well as anyone wanting to learn to show themselves more kindness.
Therapy with me is a space to process what’s happening both internally and externally, to reconnect with your values, and to care for yourself in ways that allow you to keep moving forward—without burning out or shutting down. Together, we focus on building steadiness, self-compassion, and a sense of agency in the midst of uncertainty.

I can help with parent counseling and help you get your confidence back.
Watching your child struggle with anxiety can leave you feeling helpless. You’re torn between giving in to their pleas to skip school or pushing them to go anyway. And at night, you’re a part of a long evening routine that if you try to shorten, your child breaks down, fearing something bad will happen. Do you walk away and ignore the crying, or continue the routine, sometimes stretching it for hours? The agony of watching your child’s pain, knowing how desperately you want to help but feeling powerless, is a weight you carry every day.

I have worked with individuals, parents, and children extensively since 2010 and would love to help you reconnect with life in a more meaningful way.
Has your life become unmanageable or lacking in joy? Sometimes we become overwhelmed and stretched too thin due to all of our obligations like work, family, relationships, etc. Sometimes it is an event that tips the scales and other times it is just the build-up of our every day stressors. Either way, it is time to put things back into perspective and find the happiness that you deserve.

For the past 20 years, I have worked with families, couples, adults, and adolescents. Using cognitive-behavioral theory with narrative techniques, I help empower clients to explore areas within their lives that present challenges and inhibit change, and assist them with finding solutions that will work for them. However, I also believe that the therapeutic relationship is a vital component within any program, which means that I believe that any work needs to be collaborative between myself and my clients. I am certified to deliver trauma-focused treatments as well as providing services to help manage stress and anxiety.

Parents often feel overwhelmed and at a loss for how to help or connect with their teens.
I am passionate about meeting people right where they are emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Many clients who felt anxious about beginning therapy have expressed how quickly they felt comfortable with me. I consider it a great privilege to work with individuals and families during formative years of growth and transition. My goal is to provide a safe environment that is both supportive and challenging.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
