Individuals looking for counseling are often struggling with issues that have developed over time. Often, these issues can be caused by painful relationships, work environments, family problems, traumatic events, health issues, alcohol or drug addiction as well as being an affected family member or friend, loss of loved ones or simply feeling stuck in an unsatisfactory place in life. My focus is to carefully listen and understand the issues that you want to address and then focus on helping you to utilize your strengths, abilities, and skills to find a sense of empowerment in your life.

I specialize in working with anxiety, trauma (be it personal, intergenerational/familial, or cultural), identity, spirituality, death & dying, grief, family systems, and the ways in which our lives are impacted by the larger social systems and institutions around us. I believe that a strong relationship rooted in safety is essential towards digging in to the more challenging topics, and so the beginning of our work together is oriented around nurturing this safety. I also believe that the work of healing and growth takes time and patience. My approach is slow, non-forceful, and centered around learning to be fully human.

Life can be full of daily stressors, unforeseen obstacles, challenging relationships, and lingering trauma. Therapy can help untangle some of these experiences and help people grow into a healthier version of themselves. Whether you're focused on a new issue, old wounds, or seeking a place to simply learn more about yourself - talking through it can be immensely helpful. My approach to therapy is wholistic and eclectic; viewing everyone I work with as a complex person who could benefit from a mix of different therapy modalities.

I use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, and ACT to support concerns including life transitions, anxiety, and depression.
Feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed? Experiencing changes in sleep, appetite, or mood? When mental health challenges arise, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure where to turn. Life stress and relationship difficulties can make you want to withdraw or handle things on your own but professional therapy can help. By exploring your experiences, patterns, and what has or hasn’t worked in the past, we work together to build healthier coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and support your emotional well-being so you can move toward the outcome and life you want.

I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and always work from a trauma-informed lens.
You’ve spent years holding it all together... you have been the strong one keeping it together for everyone else. You worry when you are going to slip or others will finally see through you... that you don't actually have it together at all.

Hi! I'm glad you're here! It takes courage to reach out for support, and you’ve already taken an important first step. Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by past trauma, or caught in the stress of high-conflict relationships with family, partners, or co-parents. Others are navigating the challenges of disability—whether their own or a loved one’s—and want a therapist who truly understands and affirms their experience.

I work with individuals navigating complex trauma and ADHD, helping them reconnect with the many parts of themselves that influence how they think, feel, and act.
I’ve lived, learned, and guided others through trauma, understanding how past experiences shape our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I use EMDR and other evidence-based approaches to process difficult experiences, release stuck patterns, and help you move toward a fuller, more integrated life.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
