My ideal client is anyone who wants to better their life and wants assistance in doing so. I work best with teens, young adults, individuals, couples and families that are feeling stuck in life. Together, we can have those tough conversations and work through the mess of relationships and how these are impacting you. I believe that at the heart of psychotherapy is a professional and meaningful relationship between a client or group of individuals and the therapist that can help accelerate changes and purpose within the client's life. I strive to be that therapist for my client's, understanding that this looks different for everyone.

Concerns have included anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, recovery, men's issues, and navigating life stressors/transitions.
I believe folks have the innate ability to find healing and change within themselves through supportive guidance in a safe environment. My aim is to provide space for discussion, exploration, learning, and growth—however that looks. I follow the client's lead in identifying and approaching their concerns, including tailoring treatment methods to best fit their goals and learning styles. I approach every therapeutic relationship being trauma informed, culturally sensitive, and person-centered. I am passionate about increasing self-awareness, learning how to navigate challenges, and practicing healthy connection and communication.

People usually come to me around anxiety, shame, stress, or feeling like they're always doing life for everyone else.
Being a woman can just really suck. We carry the weight of society's expectations on body image, mothering, career, social status, morality, personality, and much more, while care-taking everyone but ourselves. We're like the pack mules of emotional and physical burdens, yet social code demands we appear composed. And we have to bear the normal fluctuations of hormonal shifts with little to no support or understanding on top of it all. The impact of all of this is that it feels like nothing we do is ever enough: that we are inadequate, failures, unlovable, ugly, weak, bad, etc. The impact is shame.

I help people with anxiety, depression, weight issues and trauma.
I am a compassionate, caring, qualified therapist. Rather than just treating symptoms, I help clients get to the root cause of the problem. Then we work together to change habitual ways of thinking, feeling and behaving into more positive, healthful, life affirming patterns. I am a Clinically trained Hypnotherapist and Hypnoanalyst and psychotherapist. I use this process because I am amazed at how good results are for clients. I love to see clients succeed and hypnosis makes change more effective and faster. I am currently getting a doctorate because I am committed to the most effective treatment possible.

I really enjoy working with those who primarily have situational and emotional difficulties with anxiety, stress, ego-strength and unresolved relationship or family issues.
Our first session will include getting a background of your family, your medical and situational history, which may take the entire session and sometimes part of the second session. This is important, as information is key to helping.

We also know that a lot of comorbid mental health diagnoses ( anxiety, depression, ADHD, austism spectrum, etc) can be exacerbated by situational life circumstances and talk therapy helps so much to work through life's hard times.
I am licensed in Wisconsin with 5 years of professional clinical experience, specifically working with family systems, couples therapy, and individual therapy. I also have worked with all ages. Before that, I had experience in emergency settings and case management. As my role as a therapist, I feel very privileged to be a part of your journey and discovery in therapy. I believe in unconditional positive regard towards my clients, and adhere to the clinically-proven belief that the client-counselor relationship is the highest indicator of successful therapy- more so than any specific modality.

Whether it's parent child relationship frustrations, communication difficulties, marital issues, infidelity, sexual problems, employment stressors, depression, anxiety, negative self image, chronic pain, PTSD, self injury or other personal matters, we are specialized to treat a wide variety of symptoms.
Just like a car needs a regular oil change to keep it running smoothly for the long haul, people can benefit from a therapeutic "life tune-up." Maintaining ourselves, and our relationships can decrease problems later on that could be more expensive and damaging the longer they go without repair.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
