My ideal clients are everyday people from all walks of life — stay-at-home moms, good old boys, high-achieving CEOs and executives, folks navigating the criminal justice system, and everyone in between. They come exhausted from substance use, relapse, codependency, burnout, or feeling like something else is running their life. Many have tried traditional programs and felt they didn’t fit or were judged.

A client once told me, "You changed my mind about counseling." Many people come in expecting coping skills or quick fixes, but the work we do together looks different. I help clients uncover the deeper meaning behind their anxiety, depression, shame, and relationship patterns — long‑standing patterns shaped by earlier chapters of their story. These patterns aren't random or isolated; they're expressions of old wounds that still echo in the present, what trauma experts describe as the mind replaying past experiences in current life. Through deeper exploration, we begin making sense of these echoes.

Neuroscience is showing us what we have known instinctually forever; that it is through nurturing relationships that healing and human growth occurs. If we have been wounded in relationship or have unresolved trauma from the past, our fear and reactivity can prevent us from seeking and maintaining nurturing and safe connections with self and others. I am a licensed therapist in CA and WI and work online with residents of those two states only. My practice is fee for service only.

I especially like working with adolescents and parents of children of all ages.
Therapy is about change and hope. Come looking for a space to unload the weights on your world, which might be grief, loss, pain, trauma, confusion, fear, hurt.... but eventually we will grasp onto a lifeline of hope to begin to move toward a position that leads you out from being overwhelmed or consumed by those weights that you have been carrying. Therapy moves at a different pace for each person and care and compassion will be given to meet everyone's individual needs.

Recovery is about more than simply stopping the use of alcohol or drugs—it is about rebuilding a life worth living. I work with individuals struggling with substance use, alcohol use, criminal justice involvement, and the challenges that often accompany addiction, including relationship issues, grief, trauma, shame, and life transitions. As a Substance Abuse Counselor-In-Training, I believe lasting change begins with honesty, self-awareness, and a willingness to ask for help. My approach combines evidence-based practices, cognitive behavioral strategies, motivational interviewing, and recovery-oriented support.

As a husband, father of 2 school-aged children, and person in long-term recovery, I understand that balancing family life while facing mental health and substance use challenges can feel overwhelming for everyone involved. I help individuals and families understand how these issues affect their relationships, identify patterns that fuel stress, and build healthier ways to communicate and support one another. Together, we create realistic goals that strengthen connection, restore hope, and promote long‑term well‑being.

You may be feeling like anxiety is taking over—whether it shows up as constant worries, racing thoughts, or big emotions that feel hard to control. Maybe school has become stressful, friendships complicated, or transitions (like starting high school or college) overwhelming. Or maybe you’re a young adult trying to find your place—juggling school, work, relationships, and identity. You might feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of what’s next.

During sessions, I use play, art, and talking to allow children and teens use the therapy space to communicate and process their needs at their developmental level.
I work primarily with children who are struggling to adjust to parental divorce, mood disorders, ADHD, grief, processing emotions, and learning how to regulate themselves. Children often want to find ways to be more independent, while parents often want to know how they can help their children through the various stressors of life. Sometimes parents may also have their own mental health needs in addition to juggling parenting and perhaps the same stressors as the kids. I am here to help collaboratively so that the entire family system can become more resilient and have a better quality of life.

You’re the woman who holds everything together — for your family, your work, your relationships — yet quietly feels like you’re coming undone inside. On the outside, you look capable, thoughtful, and strong. On the inside, there’s a constant hum of anxiety, self-doubt, exhaustion, or sadness you can’t quite name. You may feel disconnected from your body, frustrated with your relationship to food or weight, overwhelmed by stress, or caught in patterns of people-pleasing that leave you depleted. Somewhere along the way, you learned to silence your own needs — and now you’re not sure how to hear yourself anymore.

I've had the honor of working with people with a history of trauma throughout my life. PTSD, attachment disorder and dissociative disorders are normal responses to being exposed to Traumatic events. This is the way our brains try to protect us from being overwhelmed. We can get stuck feeling like the world is dangerous or the events are still occuring long after the trauma is over. Trauma Counseling helps our brains let go and heal the overwhelming events of our pasts. I truely believe we can heal from anything with the right treatment. Come and see if I'm the right therapist for you.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
