To the outside world, you're seen as a pretty together person who's hard-working, accomplished and self-sufficient. When life get's tough, you buck up, soldier on, & "never let 'em see you bleed." You bottle up your pain and keep a tight lid on it. But, behind this exterior, you're actually hanging on by your fingertips. The stress on your shoulders is unbearably heavy & you're overwhelmed, stressed-out, and you feel like you're drowning under the pressure of it all. You're pain is silent, but your suffering is real and it's taking a toll on your health, productivity and your relationships with others.

I try and help people increase the "quality" of their lives which often means helping people whose thinking/behavior and feelings don't seem to connect.I use many different approaches to therapy and draw upon numerous orientations if helpful to the client's goal of change. I strongly advocate for the mind/body connection; healthy mind helps the body be healthier. Past issues are of importance but don't have to be the major focus. I can help you with depression, anxiety, relationship issues and PTSD. I am proud to be a Tricare provider.

Are you someone whose life looks “good” from the outside, yet it still feels like something is missing? You’ve accomplished a lot, but you’re not feeling the fulfillment you expected. Anxiety, OCD or a big life change – maybe a breakup, new job, new marriage, parenthood, change in family dynamic or move – has highlighted that you’re still not living the fullest, most authentic life you want to be living. Something is telling you that you need to make a shift (even if you’re not quite sure what it is). You want to gain deeper insight into yourself, your past and you’re ready to start living wholeheartedly and joyfully here and now.

Many of the individuals I work with are thoughtful and capable, yet feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected—often while appearing “fine” on the surface. You may be navigating eating or body image concerns, anxiety, perfectionism, caregiver stress, or a major life transition and wondering why it still feels so hard despite your insight and effort. My work centers on helping you feel more at ease, strengthen self-trust, and move toward a life that reflects your deepest values. Therapy can help, and I would love to support you in that process.

You’ve spent years holding it all together — strong, capable, and always there for everyone else. But lately, you’re tired. Anxious. Disconnected from who you really are. You wonder if anyone truly sees you… or if even you do.

Traditional therapy often fails to recognize the cultural and political context in which women live. Women's minds, bodies, emotions, and relationships exist interdependently. If one of these aspects fails to thrive, our whole life can be put off balance. When we are able to explore these imbalances within a trusting, authentic relationship, we can reconnect with our innate qualities of resilience, vitality, and curiosity and create a life of meaning in which we are empowered to write our own story. I'm committed to honoring the validity of women's ways of knowing and empowering women to make the choices that serve their well-being.

My ideal clients are people who’ve carried so much quietly and are ready for a space where they don’t have to be strong every moment. I offer a calm, culturally aware place to slow down, breathe, and feel truly understood. I support clients navigating stress, trauma, identity, and life changes, honoring the stories, roots, and experiences that shaped them. My hope is that each person feels seen, supported, and gently encouraged as they heal in a way that feels true to who they are becoming.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
