It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who once said that, "What lies behind us and what lies before us matters little compared to what lies within us". For more than 30 years I have focused on helping children and adults, individually, in couples, in families and groups achieve strength, peace and confidence by improving conflict resolution, communication, stress and anxiety, anger management skills, child and adolescent behavioral problems, and parenting skills as well as improved functioning and decreased emotional distress related to depression, self-esteem, post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorders. Through a combination of interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral and motivational approaches I have seen my clients make meaningful and lasting transformations in both emotional and behavioral dimensions. I provide evidence-based, focused, and time-limited treatment with documented results for mental health, behavioral health and substance use issues.

I try and help people increase the "quality" of their lives which often means helping people whose thinking/behavior and feelings don't seem to connect.I use many different approaches to therapy and draw upon numerous orientations if helpful to the client's goal of change. I strongly advocate for the mind/body connection; healthy mind helps the body be healthier. Past issues are of importance but don't have to be the major focus. I can help you with depression, anxiety, relationship issues and PTSD. I am proud to be a Tricare provider.

To support the process I draw on my training in EMDR and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction — approaches that work at the level of the body and nervous system, not just the thinking mind.
My approach is rooted in authenticity and curiosity. My clinical specialty is the intersection of big T and little t trauma and its varied presentations — the ways it surfaces in the body and in relationship patterns. I enjoy working with people who are ready to break old patterns and set healthy boundaries, with themselves and in their relationships that help them to thrive individually and in community.

Drawing from Existential, Psychodynamic, and Psychoanalytic therapies, I believe that our emotional lives are as much informed by the world we live in as our personal histories. I start from the premise that you are a fully formed person with everything you need to live a meaningful life and achieve the presence we are all striving for. The power of connecting with one another through therapy is one of the forces that can give our lives meaning and it from this premise that I greet all of my individual clients and couples.

23 years experience as an LCSW. I am a somatic grief and trauma therapist who helps people reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and heal from overwhelming life experiences. I specialize in working with high-achieving, overthinking, and people-pleasing individuals who often find themselves stuck in patterns of overprocessing rather than truly feeling and moving through their emotions. I tailor my approach to the individual, and often draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness.
Hello! I'm Lyndsey and I provide online therapy for teens, college students, and young adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, and self-esteem concerns. I also specialize in working with high-achieving students and professionals who feel pressure to succeed, struggle with perfectionism, or experience burnout despite appearing "put together". Many of my clients feel stuck in cycles of overthinking- worrying about mistakes or preparing for worst-case scenarios. Even when things look fine externally, self-doubt and anxiety can make it difficult to feel confident, present, or at ease in daily life.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
