To the outside world, you're seen as a pretty together person who's hard-working, accomplished and self-sufficient. When life get's tough, you buck up, soldier on, & "never let 'em see you bleed." You bottle up your pain and keep a tight lid on it. But, behind this exterior, you're actually hanging on by your fingertips. The stress on your shoulders is unbearably heavy & you're overwhelmed, stressed-out, and you feel like you're drowning under the pressure of it all. You're pain is silent, but your suffering is real and it's taking a toll on your health, productivity and your relationships with others.

I am a certified Prepare & Enrich premarital/marital facilitator with externship training to provide Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
I understand it takes a lot to make the first step in seeking help. If you are here, I believe you have already taken up a lot of courage to have deeper encounters with who you are and make sense of your life in a new way. Right now, you may feel scared to share the truest parts of you with others. When that fear shows up, our bodies might tense or shrink; we might want to hide, limit our choices, or push people away—especially when we’re still carrying the weight of painful memories from the past. Similarly, when children struggle to trust adults in their lives and feel unsafe in their bodies, we see big, baffling behaviors.

The majority of my clients are children, adolescents, and young adults that are navigating school, friendships, family changes, identity development, and everything else that comes with growing up. I also work with student-athletes (from youth to college), helping to manage the balance between performance and pressure. I have experience supporting individuals across the autism spectrum, and I also see adults working through anxiety, depression, OCD, and related concerns.

You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or unsure how to navigate anxiety, stress, or life transitions. Perhaps traditional talk therapy hasn’t fully worked, or you find it hard to put your experiences into words. You might be exploring identity, gender, sexuality, or self-esteem, managing neurodivergence, or balancing performance, expectations, and relationships. You want therapy that feels safe, affirming, creative, and attuned to both your mind and body.

My primary therapeutic approach is emotionally focused therapy.
Hello. I work with couples who wish to repair and strengthen their relationship. My clients often seek improved ways of managing conflict and want to restore affection and intimacy in their relationship . While presenting concerns among couples seeking therapy are varied, almost all couples desire a love relationship that makes them feel cared for and seen and heard by their partner. I hold this need central to my work with couples and help facilitate change that can be maintained over the long term.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
