I try and help people increase the "quality" of their lives which often means helping people whose thinking/behavior and feelings don't seem to connect.I use many different approaches to therapy and draw upon numerous orientations if helpful to the client's goal of change. I strongly advocate for the mind/body connection; healthy mind helps the body be healthier. Past issues are of importance but don't have to be the major focus. I can help you with depression, anxiety, relationship issues and PTSD. I am proud to be a Tricare provider.

My ideal clients are people who’ve carried so much quietly and are ready for a space where they don’t have to be strong every moment. I offer a calm, culturally aware place to slow down, breathe, and feel truly understood. I support clients navigating stress, trauma, identity, and life changes, honoring the stories, roots, and experiences that shaped them. My hope is that each person feels seen, supported, and gently encouraged as they heal in a way that feels true to who they are becoming.

So you started building your family expecting joy and excitement - and instead found stress, anxiety, or sadness. Maybe you're navigating fertility challenges. Maybe pregnancy feels overwhelming or isolating. Maybe postpartum life has brought exhaustion, anxiety, or a sense of losing yourself. If you're struggling with postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, pregnancy-related mood changes, birth trauma, or the transition to new parenthood, you are not alone, and you deserve support.

Many people I work with have done therapy before, yet still find themselves repeating the same patterns, struggling in relationships, feeling disconnected from themselves, or carrying the weight of past experiences that continue to impact their lives. I help adults navigate anxiety, trauma, substance use, disordered eating, life transitions, and the challenges that arise when old coping strategies no longer work. Together, we'll move beyond managing symptoms to understanding the deeper patterns driving them. I combine compassion with curiosity, helping you build a stronger relationship with yourself and create meaningful change.

You’re successful, responsible, and capable, but your mind won’t give you a break. If you’re constantly overthinking, second-guessing, replaying conversations, or needing reassurance just to feel settled, you may be dealing with high-functioning anxiety. I specialize in helping driven adults step out of relentless mental loops and build real cognitive flexibility. Many of my clients struggle with intrusive thoughts, rumination, mental checking, perfectionism, or a strong need for certainty. They’ve often tried to “think their way out” of anxiety, only to find that more thinking makes it worse.

Whether it’s food, body image, anxiety, trauma, or the pressure to have everything “figured out,” you deserve support that actually gets it.
You’ve spent so long trying to be “the strong one” that no one sees how overwhelmed you really feel. Maybe you’re replaying every interaction, mentally tracking food all day, or scanning every room to see how your body measures up. Maybe you’ve hit the point where the rules, the guilt, the pressure, & the self-criticism feel impossible to keep up with. Underneath it all, you just want peace. Peace with food, peace with your body, & peace with yourself. You want to feel more connected, to your relationships, to your goals, to joy, without constantly being pulled back into old patterns.

As a licensed psychologist, I offer counseling and assessment services for adults, children, couples, and families. I believe it is critical to recognize each person's diverse needs and unique background. I aim to foster an environment of understanding by guiding clients to gain awareness and develop coping skills. Together, we explore how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. As clients begin to recognize patterns in thinking, feeling, and behavior, they practice effective coping skills. When clients apply the skills they have learned, they build confidence, overcome personal obstacles, and thrive.

Body Image Therapists
How does body image affect mental health?
Poor body image can influence mental health because it can reduce self-esteem and decrease functioning in other areas of one's life. Negative body image may hinder someone's ability to perform daily tasks, including professional and social responsibilities, because they may feel self-conscious or shame surrounding their appearance; a desire to change one's body as a result of negative body image can also trigger behaviors such as extreme dieting, excessive exercise, or obsessive social media comparison. Poor body image is associated with a number of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, although many people experience negative body image even in the absence of meeting the diagnostic criteria for any mental health disorders.

What does it mean to have a positive body image?
Body image refers to how one internally perceives their appearance and internally "talks" to themself about their body. Positive body image is therefore indicative of a positive perception of one's self and positive internal self-talk that underscores one's strengths. People who have good body image often have higher self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence, and they also often recognize how external factors, such as social media or relationship patterns, can influence body image. While body image can change at different life stages and in response to various triggers, practicing self-acceptance and a body-positive mindset can help maintain a more stable sense of positive body image.

Is body image the same as self-esteem?
Body image and self-esteem are often related, but they are distinct concepts. Self-esteem is a broader term that can be shaped by a number of factors outside of body image, including one's functioning at school or in the workplace; it refers to one's capacity to handle various life challenges. Poor body image can be one way in which one's self-esteem is reduced. Reduced self-esteem as a result of poor body image can cause individuals to feel negative about their appearance, withdraw from social interactions, and/or rely on harmful behaviors as a coping mechanism. A "body positive" approach to body image therapy is therefore often used to encourage a more positive view of one's self and thus encourage better self-esteem.

What type of therapy is best to foster a positive body image?
The type of therapy best suited to improve body image depends on each person, as there is not a single therapy specific to body image improvement. That said, many individuals with poor body image benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based therapy. CBT can be used to help challenge distorted or negative thoughts about one's body, while ACT and mindfulness practices can facilitate a more positive body image through self-acceptance and identification of one's personal strengths. Regardless of treatment type, clients should look for body image therapists who encourage the development of a sense of self outside of their external appearance and help clients reduce unwanted behaviors developed as a result of poor self-esteem, such as dieting or disordered eating patterns.
