You might look like you have things together on the outside but internally, it’s a different story. Maybe your mind never shuts off, you feel emotionally disconnected, or you keep falling into the same patterns in relationships or life. You’ve probably tried to “think your way out of it,” but it hasn’t really worked. I specialize in working with high-functioning people who are tired of suffering on their own, and are looking to do deep and meaningful work reconnecting with parts of themselves they thought lost, or did not know existed. Together we will work towards a life that is meaningful to you.

I see you women warriors. Whether you’re a mom, Millennial, or mover/shaker, you’re running on fumes. Part of you wants something bigger, but you're exhausted. You don’t know if you can do it anymore—if you WANT to do it anymore. The weight of relationships, projects, and activities feels crushing. You're always putting out emotional fires. And you feel anxious, guilty, and pressured ALL-THE-TIME. You dream of having energy again. If peace exists, you'd like to grab a piece of it. You want to break free of the burnout bureaucracy, be enough, and dream bigger dreams-but you're afraid you'll fail if you stop hustling to chase them.

Together we'll explore what's getting in the way of your best life, and work towards self-awareness and acceptance.

My approach incorporates IFS, somatic, psychodynamic, existential and person centered methods.
It takes courage to seek help when you are suffering. Taking steps to improve the quality of your life is one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself. I believe it is the job of a therapist to help people on their journey and that the therapeutic relationship is an essential part of this process. The therapist must create an environment of trust where it feels safe to explore thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental, supportive manner. In this kind of atmosphere, we can begin the work to identify strengths and diminish self-defeating thinking and behavior so that you can move forward with your life.

I use play therapy, CBT, IFS, SFBT, and somatic techniques to meet each client’s unique needs.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in international humanitarian affairs and lived and studied abroad in Eritrea, Ghana, Syria, and Palestine—experiences that shaped my culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach. Growing up in a low-income neighborhood in Milwaukee also informs my commitment to supporting underserved families and communities.

Do past experiences continue to shape how you see yourself or your relationships? Many people carry trauma that shows up in repeated relationship patterns or during difficult life transitions. I help adults process and heal trauma through EMDR, explore relational dynamics, and move through life changes with greater clarity, resilience, and self-understanding.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
