You deserve to be happy and live the life you are meant to live. Sometimes we may need someone to help us travel our path through life and walk with us. If you are anxious, depressed or wondering how you will ever get through your emotional storm, call me and I will ride the wave with you. You are worth the best I can give. The purpose of my life is to help you find meaning and purpose in yours. Your life is your story. Write well. Edit often.

Does taking a break mean locking yourself in the house after a long day/week just to binge-watch Netflix, Hulu, YouTube or scroll Facebook, Instagram or TikTok? Do social situations leave you feeling “on-guard” or “out of place”? Feeling disconnected from friends, family, co-workers or even yourself? Pain (emotional, physical or psychological) is the one constant you count on each and every day. Your past continues to trigger sadness or anger, or you may not remember it at all. We help answer the questions "Where do I want to go in life?" - "Who do I want to go there with?"

Getting help can be one of the hardest steps to take. Shame, guilt, feeling trapped in life; it can be so overwhelming. Not to mention the anxiety of meeting a therapist for the first time. I am here to listen, to serve as a guide, and to help if you want me to help. The cliché is the axiom, “You’re stronger than you think;” the truth is you absolutely are, and you matter. I am here to help you along the way.

I enjoy helping people identify what they desire from their life and relationships. It can be difficult to understand what we actually want which often leads to stress and other anxious/ depressive symptoms. When stress goes on too long, it's easy to lose motivation and fall into unhelpful thinking/lifestyle habits and patterns that don't match your deeper values. Through talking together, I feel confident we will come to better understand and manage the stress and challenges you're experiencing, as well as identify what might be preventing you from moving closer toward what you hope for.

Are you a neurodivergent person or have a child/children needing help? Did you grow up with family members with mental illness? Relationship issues? Would you like to use an amazing modern technique called Brain Spotting to heal from your trauma? These all fall within my specialty, as does helping those with Borderline Personality Disorder, Anxiety, and Depression. I meet people where they are and adapt to their needs. My patients range in age from 5 to 85, and describe me as kind, funny, and knowledgeable.

I’d consider it an honor and joy to be a part of your counseling journey. No matter who you are or where you come from, one of my main goals as a counselor is to create a secure and welcoming space for you to be able to share whatever is on your heart and mind. I want to encourage you that no matter how dark things may seem, there is hope through healing and growth. Counseling is all about helping you decide what steps forward you are ready to take in your current season of life. I believe counseling will help you see that change is possible and that you can experience healing and growth.

Now is not the time to put your addiction recovery on hold. It is time to take hold of your recovery. The pain you feel regarding drug or alcohol addiction is excruciating. It feels like a heavy weight on your back. Your heart breaks every day as drugs and alcohol suck the life out of your loved one. The sadness you have often leaves you feeling helpless, hopeless. Not a day goes by that you think about quitting or think about how to help your loved one quit.

Throughout my professional journey, I have actively worked to unpack my own privilege in society and continuously strive to cultivate a practice that values and respects the unique experiences and identities of every individual I work with. With a focus on working with adults and adolescents, I firmly believe that building relationships with clients should be based on equality, mutual respect, and solidarity. I approach therapy with a genuine appreciation for people's stories, recognizing that these stories hold power and add meaning to the world we live in.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
