In person in my office in Monona with a comforting and calming environment.
My ideal client is someone whom is struggling in life and motivated to seek help and make the changes necessary in their thoughts, beliefs or circumstances to get back into wellness. I enjoy working with teens. Most of my career has been with at risk youth. I also work with women's issues, addressing underlying causes of stress and overwhelm. I use Imago and Gottman approaches with couples. When working with men, we discuss the need for vulnerability and self-acceptance. Anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss can all be successfully addressed with psychotherapy.

You’re depressed. Stressed. Stuck. Things are a mess and no one understands. When we get into a space of stasis, overwhelm, despondency, or disorientation, it can feel scary…even hopeless. But it doesn’t need to be that way. In my work with individuals and couples, my goal is to help things get unstuck and on a path toward stability and even thriving.

Life transitions and relationships can be both beautiful and difficult. Everyone deserves a safe space to share and explore their thoughts and feelings. Often through reflection, when we allow ourselves to slow down and notice what we are experiencing in the moment, true self discovery and capacity from within can be found and cultivated. With compassion and openness I walk along side my clients as they work towards relief and resolution. I utilize a blend of traditional therapy approaches along with experiential modalities such as Brainspotting, Mindfulness exercises, and Guided Visualizations to tailor the therapeutic experience.

I offer telehealth and in-person twice a week.
I created Choose You Counseling to empower my clients to engage in collaborative problem-solving so they can own their solution and take pride in their ability to heal. I work with people 12 to 100 years old helping with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, relationship and family issues, anger, school and adolescent difficulties. I am focused on listening to my client's life story to get an understanding how events have impacted their views and life choices then implement strategies to help promote healing and positive change. I believe choosing oneself is the foundation of improving our life.

Life already presents plenty of obstacles and opportunities for difficult emotions. Instead of adding to the chaos, therapy can create space to make things better. No matter your circumstances, it’s natural to feel confusion and self-doubt when facing life’s challenges on your own. Perhaps you feel like balance and happiness are out of reach amid life’s turmoil or your mind seems to “run off” without warning and you’re struggling to take back control. The pressure of today’s world can be overwhelming, and there are countless reasons you might left feeling like things aren’t quite “right.”

As a therapist trained in family systems, I work with the families strengths to support growth and change within the family unit. With a specialty in early childhood mental health I work with the youngest clients (under 5) which focuses on parenting skills to increase parents' confidence in managing behaviors, increasing attunement to their child and identifying areas of challenge that parents feel are keeping them stuck without a direction forward.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
