No two people come in with the same story, and no two courses of therapy look exactly alike. While I work with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, family conflict, and more, what happens in therapy is always shaped by you, not by a rigid formula.

Finding ease is possible. Feeling seen, supported, and understood is where healing begins. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, disconnected, or carrying the effects of stress or trauma, you don't have to navigate it alone. You may have tried therapy before and still feel like something is missing. Lasting change often happens when we address both the mind and the nervous system. Together, we'll identify patterns that no longer serve you, build practical skills, and create a path toward greater resilience, clarity, and connection.

Understanding ourselves and our lives can be difficult. On the one hand, our inner critics may be so loud, self-examination is torturous. On the other, well-meaning people in our lives may be so eager to validate us that we are never quite sure we're getting a real picture of who we are. So, counseling is essentially about receiving the support to work creatively with all of this noise long enough to allow change to happen in and through you. The only way to do this to let someone get to know the real you. If we can do that, therapy can be a deeply authentic, radically human, even life-changing encounter!

Accepting new clients. I like to think that each of us is living out a story—and sometimes, it’s not the one we would have chosen. You may be navigating loss, a difficult diagnosis, or a challenging life transition. Perhaps someone who was meant to keep you safe didn’t, or a community you loved has caused you pain. You might replay memories that leave you feeling lost or confused. In sessions, I offer a space where your story can be met with curiosity, compassion, and care. I believe healing happens in relationship, and therapy can be a place to begin making sense of your experiences in a way that feels supportive and empowering.

Healing isn’t always linear, and it doesn’t always come through words alone. Many of the people I work with carry complex trauma, anxiety, or a deep sense of spiritual disconnection. Even after years of talk therapy, they may feel stuck—trapped in old patterns, disconnected from their body, or overwhelmed by emotions they can’t name. Beneath all of this is often a quiet, persistent longing: to feel grounded, calm, safe, and whole again. My work begins with that longing and gently supports clients in reconnecting with themselves, their inner wisdom, and their sense of aliveness.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
