Psychoanalytic psychotherapy and specialized training in Couples Therapy, DreamTending, Clinical Sex Therapy, Gender Variance, Ayurveda & Vedic Astrology; Depth Psychology & Jungian Analysis; NVC, Gottman, Hendrix, and Johnson couples dynamics.
With over 25 years in the mental health field and 18 years in private practice, I offer a multitude of personal and professional experience. Much of our suffering is due to dissatisfaction in relationships. Sadly, many relationships end prematurely when we are most hurt and emotionally vulnerable. However, this is when the intimacy we lacked prior has the potential to break through finally. I give you tools and insight to heal old wounds that hold you back from experiencing the love you seek within yourself and others. Together we address the intrapsychic conflicts and longings of the soul.

My areas of knowledge include sex therapy helping individuals and couples when faced with challenges of intimacy and sex.
I believe it is my role as a therapist to help support you in facilitating change in a nonjudgmental environment that offers accountability. We are a therapeutic team - you being the expert of your own experience and me being a sounding board for thoughts, feelings, and emotions. My therapeutic approach combines person centered therapy with aspects of cognitive behavioral (CBT), solutions focused, and dialectical-behavioral (DBT) therapies. This means we will implement skills for emotion regulation, communication, and facing anxiety while also making space to talk about your experiences.

Shame is often so intertwined with sexuality because of the societal silence around the topic.
As a certified sex therapist, rooted in soul work and a psychology of women, I will help you reclaim a sense of vitality, a sense of being at home in your own skin. In working together, you will regain trust with your intuition and build confidence in expressing yourself as it relates to your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual desires.

Very few of us were given the tools and affirmation needed to navigate sex, despite it being a fundamental part of our humanity.
We might be a good fit if you want to focus on: underlying causes of sexual issues, history of purity culture or sexual shame, sexual/gender identity, kink/fetish, non-traditional/non-monogamous relationships, differences in sexual needs among partners, issues of libido/performance/arousal/desire/intimacy/inhibition, etc.

My clients often want to gain deep insights into themselves and use these insights to see shifts such as greater self-compassion, less anxiety, and more fulfillment and authenticity. Whether processing trauma or difficult relationships, navigating their sexual identity (queer, non-monogamous, kinky, etc.), or working through everyday struggles, my clients seek an understanding, informed, and non-judgmental place that can help them truly get to know themselves.

Has something changed about your sexuality or sex life, and you’re afraid that you will lose your current partner(s) or community because of the ways you are changing?.
My approach is grounded in narrative therapy. I want to help rewrite the stories we tell about ourselves or our partners. It is essential to examine why we believe things are the way they are and check the validity of these beliefs so we can sculpt new stories that better align with our wants.

I help those living with the impact of trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, identity formation, and gender/ sexuality development, experience more fulfilling relationships and understand themselves better.
Asking for help is hard, and it’s when we feel heard, seen, and understood, that healing and growth are most accessible. I am here to hold space for you, or you and your partner(s), to explore and challenge yourself in pursuit of greater truth and authenticity. By addressing troubling thoughts and feelings, self-sabotaging behaviors, and traumas, life can be made more manageable, productive, and fulfilling. Feelings such as grief, shame, anxiety, sadness, and anger often signal that something needs to change. Listening to and working through these feelings can propel you forward. Allow me to help.

Sex Therapy

Who is sex therapy for?

Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?

Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?

People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?

Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
