My Personality: Bold, honest, empathetic, compassionate, articulate, and nerdy. Most of the folks I work with have been dealing with issues for a long time and either starting to want to change or see that they need a change to happen to be where and who they want to be! Nothing is too big or too small to be handled together – trauma, abuse, toxic relationships, harmful coping skills, conflicts at work, self-doubt/growth, and personality disorders. My job is to help you explore where these issues are coming from, what has worked in the past, and what will help you become a new “whole” person in the future.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed, stuck, burdened by fears, and quite simply lost? I think we all have at one time or another. My life has brought me through a winding path and, along the way, I have met some amazing people... clients that are doing their best despite the burden they carry. Despite my two master's degrees and my 20+ years of counseling experience, I continue to get chills when clients have that "ah-ha" moment and start on a new path in their life.

Bodhi: "Awakening" or "enlightenment" . Humans have an innate need for connection. We long to be acknowledged, accepted, and understood. Often, however, we move through life unsure of who we really are and how to form genuine connections with others. We shape-shift to fit the mold of others' expectations which can lead to feelings of fear, resentment, and anger. This disconnect can cause interpersonal conflict and impact our families, friendships, and careers. Sometimes it feels as if we stumble through life with no direction. What would it mean to have a sense of awakening to oneself? to be enlightened to the authentic you?

I am also familiar and comfortable with working with those in non-traditional relationship types - non-monogamy (ENM, Polyamory, Swinging), BDSM/ Kink, blended families, etc.
Therapy is what you make of it. It is not a quick fix, but rather a journey that’s guided by someone who is a neutral party, that you can trust and collaborate with to help reach your goals. We take for granted how important it is to feel seen, heard, safe and cared for.

When I think of the counseling process, I view it as a journey of growth. It is something that can take time, and like anything worthwhile, there are highs and lows. If we are a good fit, I want to be there with you every step of the way. My goal as a counselor is to create a safe space for each moment of your journey and to really experience those moments with you. I strive to be empathetic and create a warm and welcoming environment for all. No matter what you’re going through, we can begin this journey together.

If you are looking for a candid, relationship-oriented therapist to help you recognize and address your longstanding wounds that underly your habitual responses, you found one. Sessions may include direct confrontation of negative beliefs about self, guided recall of memory, and focused mindfulness exercises.

Currently Accepting New Clients in Chicago, Milwaukee and across IL & WI.
For a long time, life may have felt overwhelming, even if everything on the surface looks "fine." You might tell yourself, “I’m fine, it could be worse,” yet underneath, there’s a constant sense of tension, exhaustion, and burnout. You may feel detached, you’ve become skilled at hiding your pain and no one seems to notice. This can leave you feeling lonely, even when surrounded by others, and stir up complex emotions like guilt, shame, and resentment. Deep down, you long to live more authentically, but looking inward feels overwhelming.

Seeking therapy is a courageous first step towards better understanding how past and current experiences impact individual wellbeing. I believe the most important part of treatment is establishing a trusting client-therapist relationship. I work to build a warm, open environment so you feel safe when sharing difficult thoughts and feelings. There are times in life when our usual coping strategies are not enough and feelings of helplessness and inadequacy can take over. Therapy can help to successfully navigate life's challenges and make positive changes that will contribute to improved feelings of competence in managing relationships, transitions, and other stressors more productively.

We suffer for many reasons: some physical, some psychological, and some social and political, typically a combination. Often, our best efforts to prevent or reduce pain, which might once have been effective, lead to different kinds of pain and we find these ingrained patterns of self-protection difficult to change. It’s important to address suffering at all levels (personal, interpersonal, sociopolitical), and therapy can be one of many steps you need to take to address the sources of your distress. Therapy is a chance to explore the ways you have made meaning of your experiences and how these have helped and/or hindered you.

Kink/fetish; non-monogamy/polyamory/open relationships; gender/sexual identity; sexual shame/self-acceptance; erectile dysfunction, pain, vaginismus, premature ejaculation, compulsive behavior, etc
Very few of us were given the tools and affirmation needed to navigate sex, identity, and relationships, despite these things being a fundamental part of our humanity. I am a sex & relationship therapist passionate about reducing sexual shame, fostering a lens of curiosity and self-acceptance in sexuality, building a sense of playfulness and confidence, developing a personal acumen of sexual values, and unlearning messages of sex-negative cultures.
Here are some of the topics that often come up in sex & relationship therapy with the folks I work with:

My space is LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink affirming, and non-monogamy affirming.
My clients often want to gain deep insights into themselves and use these insights to see shifts such as greater self-compassion, less anxiety, and more fulfillment and authenticity. Whether processing trauma or difficult relationships, navigating their sexual identity (queer, non-monogamous, kinky, etc.), or working through everyday struggles, my clients seek an understanding, informed, and non-judgmental place that can help them truly get to know themselves.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness (cbtmindful.com). I see therapy as a space of honest exploration of who you are, what is most important to you, and what is holding you back from living a more fulfilling life. My role is to listen carefully and compassionately so that, together, we can identify patterns, especially ones that aren’t leading you to the life you want. Then, I use a creative and collaborative approach to help you make changes in how you relate to yourself, how you show up in your relationships, and how you make decisions, big and small.
