Attachment-based Therapists in Milwaukee, WI

I utilize an attachment-based lens to guide treatment with my clients.
You might be feeling stuck, like you’re doing your best, but something is just not clicking. Maybe you're questioning your identity, feeling overwhelmed in your relationships, or caught in the same frustrating patterns. You work hard and care deeply, but it’s still hard to figure it all out alone. Together, we can develop helpful techniques for you to use outside of sessions and bring about positive change in your life by interrupting these patterns. If you're carrying trauma, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, you deserve support. I’d be honored to offer a space where you can breathe, heal, and reconnect with yourself.

Training in Attachment-based therapy for couples and individual counseling.
Therapy provides us the opportunity for greater self-discovery and deepened self-understanding. The person I enjoy working with is someone who is genuinely curious about what makes them tick, why they make choices that sink their dreams or sabotage the relationships important to them; but who are also wanting to know their strengths and talents so they can embrace and use them more effectively.

Using EMDR and attachment-based approaches, I help clients process trauma, explore relationships, and build deeper self-awareness.
As a therapist, I so value the healing potential of human connection. Emotion and suffering are natural reactions to life, and the ability to sit with and process life’s challenges with another person can be a gift. Sharing moments of loss, shame, joy, and disappointment can lead to stronger self-acceptance and connection with others. I strive to be welcoming, open, and empathetic to all clients who walk through the door.

Drawing from a variety of modalities (person-centered, somatic, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and relational), I tailor therapy to meet your needs and support your growth.
I’m passionate about helping individuals navigate the complexities of life. Clients typically find me when they are ready to work through anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, and difficult family dynamics. I work primarily with adults who are seeking greater clarity, connection, and self-understanding.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in politics in the Midwest and Washington, D.C. That experience taught me how complex people and systems can be—and deepened my commitment to helping others find their voice, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change in their lives.

It’s easy to feel stressed and worried when you’re overwhelmed by guilt, unsure of who you are anymore, and you are constantly battling fluctuating emotions. Even though you've tried things like self-help books, TikToks, or talking to friends, it feels like nothing is really helping. Everyday feels overwhelming and at times you just want to escape. It’s important to know that these feelings don’t mean you’ve failed. They’re signals that something deeper needs attention and care.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
