You want to appear successful and like you have it “all together,” but deep down, you are struggling to manage your overthinking, perform when it counts, or feel like you’re “enough." Maybe you work hard but still don’t get the results you are striving for. When this happens, you say mean things to yourself you would NEVER say to anyone else. Or, you worry about something you said or did long after everyone else has forgotten about it. Additionally, you aren’t always sure how you really feel or what to do with your emotions. You may question why things are so difficult when it seems like everyone else gets through life more easily.

My therapeutic philosophy is that it's not what is wrong with you but what happened to you. I believe that symptoms like anxiety and depression are not signs of weakness but messages to our mind and body telling us that something is not right and needs to be addressed. Maladaptive ways of coping may have once served us by dulling stress or pain but are not working any more, and so we have to learn new, healthier, more adaptive coping skills. I believe both the body and mind work together and are ultimately designed to survive, heal and thrive. Sometimes we just need understanding, validation and support to navigate the process.

We all have things we like in our lives and things we'd like to change for the better. This may mean improving relationships, a desire to improve mood, and/or addressing health issues or social issues impeding on one's ability to have the life they want. We are all doing the best we can, but often we want something more out of life, and we need some help to bring this to fruition. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to identify what is going well and what might need change. It can also facilitate new effective ways of being.

It’s easy to feel stressed and worried when you’re overwhelmed by guilt, unsure of who you are anymore, and you are constantly battling fluctuating emotions. Even though you've tried things like self-help books, TikToks, or talking to friends, it feels like nothing is really helping. Everyday feels overwhelming and at times you just want to escape. It’s important to know that these feelings don’t mean you’ve failed. They’re signals that something deeper needs attention and care.

We all have strengths and weaknesses. In my practice, I like to uncover and nurture the many strengths that my clients possess. I encourage my clients to use these strengths to their advantage and to continually uncover additional strengths and resilience. Within my therapeutic approach, I use a variety of theories and modalities to assist in understanding and treating clients. I use existential and psychoanalytic theories which consider a person’s childhood experiences, attachments, and the deeper question of creating meaning in life.
