Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task especially at a time in your life when you may be feeling vulnerable, confused, and alone. So, I guess your question would be, "Why should I choose you as my therapist over others? Will I make more progress working with you?" I do believe in educating clients with regard to CBT/DBT/Mindfulness techniques, which are invaluable when used to improve everyday functioning and helping individuals manage distress. However, where clients remain stuck is a combination of 1) Not being aware of underlying unresolved issues and 2) Not knowing how to get at them and bring them forward to consciousness. Often, therapists work with traumatic 'events' that clients bring to them. I process these events, but also help uncover more.

I recognize the vulnerability and courage it takes to ask for support and I am grateful to have the opportunity to be part of your process. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand their experiences, build coping strategies, foster emotional healing, and empower personal growth. I have education and experience treating a variety of diagnoses and concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD and trauma-related disorders, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, relationship/family concerns, and overall growth.

Seeking therapy is a courageous first step towards better understanding how past and current experiences impact individual wellbeing. I believe the most important part of treatment is establishing a trusting client-therapist relationship. I work to build a warm, open environment so you feel safe when sharing difficult thoughts and feelings. There are times in life when our usual coping strategies are not enough and feelings of helplessness and inadequacy can take over. Therapy can help to successfully navigate life's challenges and make positive changes that will contribute to improved feelings of competence in managing relationships, transitions, and other stressors more productively.

My goal in therapy is to offer a space for clients to feel understood and accepted and I believe the healing comes through connection. Building a collaborative, safe, and trusting therapeutic relationship is central to my approach as I help clients find meaning and purpose in their lives and develop healthier relationships with others and themselves. I recognize that each of us gets lots of messages in this world and many of them are negative. I work to help people identify and overcome these negative messages by embracing their strengths to live a satisfying life.

As a therapist, I rely heavily on the power of the therapeutic relationship, viewing this relationship as the foundation for safety in working with individuals and their internal systems. Our work together develops insight into one's own internal landscape and explores the wounds that create difficult emotions, thoughts and patterns in day to day life. Working together, such processing fosters a relationship with oneself in a way that goes beyond their past.
