I will facilitate your capacity to do both, as I have done with many children, adults, couples and families for 35 years.
Helping people strengthen relationships – with their partners, their children, their work, even with themselves – is my personal and professional mission. This includes specialties in child & family therapy, couples counseling, working with men, and recovery from the traumatic experiences that may block us from the health and well-being we long for.

I partner with clients to improve mental health, relationships, work, school, parenting and dependency on alcohol and substances.
I went through some struggles as a teenager and then started volunteering when I realized how important it was to give back to the community, like the people who helped me did. We all need extra support at different times in our lives and that's okay, when we accept this it actually makes us stronger. There is hope of a better tomorrow, give it a try.

Whether you are having frequent conflicts with your partner, struggling with parenthood, grieving a loss, trying to establish healthy boundaries with family and friends, or working to understand yourself better — having someone to help support you through that process with empathy, insight, and guidance can be life changing.
I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College. My approach is collaborative and rooted in evidence-based practices like CBT, the Gottman Method, and Family Systems Therapy. I always customize my work to meet the unique needs of each individual, couple, and family.

I believe that the most important factor when it comes to healing and positive outcomes for people seeking therapy is the relationship between the client and their therapist. My goal is to help you to grow and learn in this relationship, while at the same time ensuring you feel safe while doing so. All I ask is that you show up and do the work, even when the work is hard and heart-wrenching. I want you to strive to better understand yourself by being vulnerable, open, and honest, and I can promise to do the same.

I also work with same- and opposite-sex couples.
Is there a part of you that you don’t quite understand—something that feels like it’s holding you back or leading to painful, repeating patterns in your life? You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling unfulfilled, or a sense of frustration about not being able to move forward despite your best efforts. Many people who come to therapy have tried everything they can think of to feel better. When things don’t change, it can feel discouraging or confusing. I believe these struggles often have roots in ways of thinking and relating to ourselves and others. These patterns can develop over time and we may be unaware of them.

Welcome! No two clients are alike, so neither is my approach to your care! Feelings of anxiety, worry, sadness or anger? Are you having difficulty setting and attaining goals? Finding and keeping meaningful relationships? Trying to cope and regain balance after a painful loss or trauma? If you can say yes to any of these, you may also be feeling alone with your challenges. Understand, you are not, many share these feelings and what these challenges all have in common; they are isolating and negatively life altering. For those who have struggled, a therapist can be an essential guide towards a happier, healthier life journey.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
