I specialize in utilizing cognitive strategies, motivational strategies, and mindfulness techniques based in neuroscience to change thinking patterns and habits, stress and anxiety reactions, and behavioral symptoms. These techniques have research and history behind them that prove they work. My training allows me to teach and use techniques to help clients actually change their brains and nervous systems for better mental and physical health. My techniques are less about talk therapy and more about creating actions and practices that work toward change and the creation of a happy, healthy life!

We love to collaborate with clients to help them draw from their own expertise, build on their own positive values, discover their own skills, and use these new tools to work through conflicts and hardships. We are systems therapist. What that means is: we like to approach problems that people have within the context of social, political and cultural storylines that influence the way we view ourselves and our own personal stories. We use this same approach in family therapy to seek ways to change the way the family system works rather than trying to "fix" a specific family member.

Let's be real. Trauma is, well, traumatizing and can truly impact your everyday functions. I use the visual of trauma being paper crumpled into balls in a bucket. When you close your eyes and imagine that, how full is your bucket? Most say that its overflowing already, so one minor life change feels like overwhelming doom, because your buckets already full. I help those I see work through that bucket, processing each crumple of paper to fold neatly back into the bucket. Once the trauma has been worked through you have the space to deal with new situations as they come. I would love to help you work on your bucket!

Making the decision to start therapy is a very brave thing. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that provides the emotional support and structure to help you work towards understanding yourself better, make changes to your life, practice new coping skills, and have the growth you want to better your life. I believe no subject matter is off limits! It is truly an honor to witness the strength of the human spirit, the resiliency we all have within us, and the change that happens within the therapeutic space.

Many of the individuals I work with come in feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward and together. This is why I try to create a space where people can feel understood, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I work with children, teens, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, and difficulties with focus or executive functioning. I also work closely with parents, helping them feel more confident in supporting their child outside of the therapy room.

I am all about meeting people where they are. I believe in creating an environment that feels safe and trusting. I work hard at listening and not trying to talk people out of their feelings. It is not my job to fix problems, but to help guide people to make changes, in order to meet the goals that are important in their lives.
