My motivation for working with clients is to support them in achieving their personal goals. These challenges consume so much energy that they leave us with little left to devote to living our best lives. It becomes a vicious cycle that can seem impossible to break; untreated, these conditions can take over our lives. I am passionate about helping those with trauma, grief/ loss, adjustment, depression and anxiety.
Two approaches I enjoy are Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I use an IFS informed approach and enjoy giving psychoeducation, so clients understand themselves. I am also EMDR trained and find that IFS complements EMDR very well. Additionally, I have training in Prepare/Enrich, and I offer Christian counseling upon request.

Specific topics that I work with include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, grief, trauma, surviving domestic violence, and surviving a sexual assault.
Prior to completing my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling I worked as a Victim Advocate for victim survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence. While working as an advocate I saw a need for survivors for non acute trauma treatment as well as mental health treatment for child survivors. I'm also a new mental health provider, which means I'm creative!

The therapeutic process is one of endless discovery and self-empowerment. Seeking out help is a valiant first step in this personal journey to befriend yourself. Befriending yourself greatly opens the internal space to invite others in so that we might have fuller, richer, and more wholesome relationships with those we love and those we’ve yet to meet. If you seek to reconnect, or connect more deeply, with your inherent goodness, then please reach out. I am deeply excited by the prospect of being able to share this experience with you.

I work primarily with children who are struggling to adjust to parental divorce, mood disorders, ADHD, grief, processing emotions, and learning how to regulate themselves. Children often want to find ways to be more independent, while parents often want to know how they can help their children through the various stressors of life. Sometimes parents may also have their own mental health needs in addition to juggling parenting and perhaps the same stressors as the kids. I am here to help collaboratively so that the entire family system can become more resilient and have a better quality of life.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
