Talk therapy doesn't always meet our needs. Working with the nervous system holistically through EMDR, somatic experiencing, & breathing offers gentler and more effective means to heal. Therapy is a unique opportunity to be vulnerable and learn to experience a healthy relationship, with a foundation of trust and compassionate experience. A diagnosis is not necessary, in my professional opinion, to work through the issues "in the tissues". Confidentiality offers you peace of mind and sets a foundation of trust between us. My work is about freeing the weight of the past & future anxieties, so you can be you again and enjoy life more.

I am trained in breathwork as well as dance and somatic movement, which can be valuable tools to connect body and emotions in the healing process.
I am honored to be a person with whom friends, colleagues and clients have trusted to share their stories and trials and triumphs of life. I believe that our shared connections, compassion and authenticity are precious gifts to our health and wellness. The ups and downs of life often get in the way of becoming our best selves. I love working with clients who are struggling to find that voice of authenticity that’s been hidden by loneliness, comparing themselves to an impossible ideal, or even years of trauma and abuse. Together, we’ll work in collaboration, incorporating connection to mind and body to reclaim a sense of wholeness.

I utilize an eclectic approach, incorporating verbal reflection, art making, movement, metaphor, somatic processing and personalized ritual.
Life's motion can feel intense and demanding, seeming to move at a pace beyond one's stride, resulting in chronic stress, increased anxiety, fear, and for some, chronic pain. Throughout this motion, self-care and nurturing relationships can feel overwhelming. Connecting with another human can be one of the safest ways to become grounded and encounter what is asking for acknowledgment and care. I believe the therapeutic relationship and environment has immense potential to provide a secure container for all that is felt to be seen and explored—giving fear the opportunity to be faced and transformed into intentional forward movement.

I use a wide variety of theories from humanistic to somatic with spatters of many other things in-between.
You want change and you don't know where to begin. You have ideas on what needs to change, but you don't seem to get the footing to make it happen. Sometimes a co-creator of the life you want is what you need. I am here to help with the life transitions, depression, anxiety. The desire to get out of the rut. I believe we are all capable of change and that we have the power to create it. You have the innate wisdom inside of yourself and that wisdom is yearning to be awoke within. Changes in life are hard and so rewarding when your maximum potential is learned. It is time to get out of your own way.

My therapeutic philosophy is that it's not what is wrong with you but what happened to you. I believe that symptoms like anxiety and depression are not signs of weakness but messages to our mind and body telling us that something is not right and needs to be addressed. Maladaptive ways of coping may have once served us by dulling stress or pain but are not working any more, and so we have to learn new, healthier, more adaptive coping skills. I believe both the body and mind work together and are ultimately designed to survive, heal and thrive. Sometimes we just need understanding, validation and support to navigate the process.

You found yourself in a cycle of feeling stuck and overwhelmed while continuing to run around with a never ending list of demands; it can feel like there’s no out. Feeling unsure of what to do, but knowing there is more to life can be an exhausting place to be. This can impact not only our emotional well-being, but also our physical health if acting in a way that we’re not valuable enough to care for. You deserve to have a healthy self-relationship again, which begins to shift other areas of life into alignment.

You're feeling anxious, overwhelmed or maybe even fearful of the future. All you've been wanting is to feel understood and validated by those around you. You remember times when you've felt better, more yourself, but now you just feel so disconnected. Going through challenges like these can feel really isolating, but you do not need to go it alone. Connecting with a therapist can be a great way to start your healing journey. My favorite part of being a therapist is having the opportunity to sit across from someone and help them feel seen, valued and understood, while also offering day to day tools to help them feel better.

As you’re walking along your path, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, lost, or stuck. There are often different forks in the road, rough patches, and noises behind you demanding your attention, which make it difficult to continue forward. I’m here to help teenagers and adults seeking to improve their wellness and develop a better understanding of their path. As a queer person, I also know the stressors of navigating a cis-het normative culture. For Trans and gender expansive folx, I use informed consent and self-determination models.

Stress and anxiety feels like your default setting. Overwhelmed and burnout is the motto to your life. You feel like your needs are being put on the backburner of everyone else’s. You want to be able to say how you’re feeling but the idea is so uncomfortable that you keep quiet and avoid the drama. How doe it feel to hear, your thoughts and feelings matter and you are deserving to set your boundaries?

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
