I am certified in cognitive behavioral therapy programs such as Thinking for a Change (T4C) and Anger Control Training (ACT).
I use a systemic perspective as an LMFT to aide in the growth and healing for families, couples, and individuals who are recovering from trauma, anger, domestic violence, and many other struggles. I enjoy supporting clients as they walk their journey and offering new perspectives along the way using experiential and strengths-based modalities. I am sensitive to the life experiences of clients and value flexibility and humor as well as empathy and positive regard in order to revive the hope and resilience within clients while developing a secure therapeutic alliance.

I am trained and experienced in several trauma-responsive modalities, including TF- CBT , ACT, and IFS (among others).
It's safe to say at some point in our life we will feel overwhelmed, stuck, or maybe that things are out of our control. We may be caught up in a difficult situation, or find ourselves worrying all the time. We may do certain things to check out or de-stress that over time become unhelpful. Maybe we experienced a traumatic event, or chronic stress, and our stress-response system is always set to "on" or "hyperdrive," and we just can't calm down. People of every age experience stress and it shows up in many ways. I am honored to be able to hold space with my clients as they show up to seek answers, healing, connection, and growth.

I use ACT, CBT , DBT, and SFBT in my sessions.
Depression, anxiety, stress & trauma can be crippling! Living with a "mental health diagnosis" can feel like you're damaged or broken. Or do you feel "stuck?" Whatever you're dealing with, it doesn't have to disrupt your life, nor are you broken or damaged! Think about this.. have you ever wondered why some people coast through life and everything seems to be going amazing for them, yet you feel stuck??? I can help you move forward and give you the tools that the most successful and content people know and use!

I am certified in TF- CBT , which is extremely effective in treating youth who have experienced trauma (single incident or complex trama).
Your child deserves prompt, consistent, and quality services. If you feel like your child is just another number when they've tried therapy before, I commit to building that relationship with them. Since 2003, I have strived to do what it takes to help the kids in our community. You and your child pick the goals, and I will give empathetic and clear guidance. An exceptionally non-judgmental attitude and a healthy sense of humor are the foundation of what makes me successful in working with difficult children and their families.

Treatment modalities include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Analytical Psychotherapy, Dream Therapy, Mindfulness/meditation practice, Sand Play, HMR, and EMDR.
I offer a safe, supportive environment and have found empathy, understanding and humor are important in building a therapeutic alliance. My abilities are well suited to people with a history of trauma and who are intuitive and creative. Whether you're looking for short term therapy or a deeper process, my skill level applies to both. Each person is unique and I anticipate and enjoy building a relationship that assumes collaboration. I then work with them toward activating their own healing potential, no matter the age. I work well with individuals who have had treatment failures in the past.

CBT ( Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Exposure Therapy, and EMDR are well-researched, highly effective treatment modalities used to help reduce the symptoms of anxiety, panic, or unresolved trauma memories.
My preferred style of therapy is short-term, skills-based, solution focused therapy. Teaching you how to manage anxiety is a major part of therapy and developing skills will be a significant part of our work together. I have extensive training in EMDR and use it often to help clients resolve distressing memories or lingering symptoms of trauma. Clients have had a high success rate of relieving symptoms using EMDR both in person and via Telehealth. During the months of November-April, sessions are offered via Telehealth ONLY.

You’re ready to heal, but having a hard time finding someone you can confide in and feel comfortable opening up to. Your drinking or substance use has gotten out of control, or you’re feeling anxious, maybe depressed. You either don’t have insurance or prefer not to use yours. The idea of finding someone to talk with scares the hell out of you. Maybe you’re afraid of finding help that’s “really expensive” or “too fancy”.

Counseling stinks, I tried it and didn’t think it was for me. Sound familiar? Those were my thoughts about counseling and I am wondering if you have ever felt that way? If I was offered the choice of seeing a counselor or assembling IKEA furniture with winter mittens, I would have redecorated my entire house in unpronounceable Swedish accouterments. Shunning the counseling establishment didn’t ease the sense of unhappiness I had, so I gave the system another go. This time I found a counselor that didn’t stink, a counselor that was able to see me for who I am and gave me a sense of hope I hadn’t found otherwise.

We all have things that sometimes get in the way of living the life that we want to live. That is part of the human experience, and sometimes you need an objective and kind voice to help you reflect. It may take just a few sessions to get back on track, or you need more time and support to heal and grow. Whatever place you are in, I work to create a safe space in which you can explore, learn, grow and heal.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
Cognitive-behavioral therapy stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. The therapist assists the client in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying his or her thinking. The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments.
