My approach is to meet each client or couple where they’re at and help them get to where they want to go, whether that’s easing symptoms of anxiety, improving their relationship, or exploring some of the many aspects of their identity (sexuality, gender, partnerships, academics, career, etc) and what’s next for them. I am a generalist, and I also have expertise working with relationships and the alt-sex community. If you are feeling stuck or confused in your life, counseling can help you define past influences that got you here and where you want to go, and provide you with skills and guidance to get there.
**Individualized Effective Care at Reasonable Rates** Life has its twists and turns, whether you or your loved one is struggling with mental illness, grief, stress, trauma, addiction, behavioral or social issues, at times we all need to take a step back and seek assistance. You do not need to go it alone. Help is on its way, you just have to ask for it. I would like to assist you with whatever is making you feel overwhelmed, down, frustrated and/or anxious. In order to make therapy accessible I charge reasonable rates and have day, evening and weekend hours. My goal is to increase your quality of life.
My journey to becoming a therapist started after returning home from a combat deployment, experiencing a devastating divorce and years of readjustment difficulties. During these deeply personal experiences, I became aware of the hurt and the brokenness we all face and now have a deep desire to help others to overcome as I did. I am passionate about helping couples find reconciliation and negotiating relationship pitfalls. As well as working with clients to heal from past trauma, manage their anxiety/depression, regulate anger or learn to value themselves again. You don't have to face it alone, there is hope.
Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow. I work to create safe environments that are engaging and respectful of the ways people are both alike and different in order to harness the full potential of and be beneficial to all individuals, couples, and families.
Trauma is defined as "a deeply distressing or disturbing experience". Traumatic events are life changing. Living with constant fear and anxiety as a result can be debilitating; making it difficult to connect with others and navigate the world around us. I specialize in treating child and adolescent trauma as well as individuals and families. Early on in my career I worked with high profile trauma cases. This, paired with my experience working in the school setting and my deep curiosity of neuroscience has given me a unique set of clinical skills.
Our work together focuses on self-compassion, awareness and setting boundaries in our lives. I believe this work helps bring long lasting, positive changes. We explore current issues, traumas, life struggles and transitions to facilitate greater understanding and change. My hope as a therapist is to build relationships and work collaboratively in a judgement-free zone. I treat a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, and interpersonal issues.
**I currently have daytime options available. Please check with your insurance to verify that you have mental health coverage and what your expected copay might be.** Often we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed with our emotions or situations we are handling. Sometimes we feel stuck trying to move forward because it's not always easy to know what to do. We need a safe place to share, be heard and supported. This is what I provide for my clients. I believe the client/therapist relationship is imperative for positive change. I strive to bring compassion, empathy and understanding to each session.
As parents, we've all had those "WTF" moments. Maybe your child is acting out or their mood seems to have more ups and downs than a rollercoaster. Sure, it comes with the territory of raising kids, but when they start to happen more often, we might feel confused, frustrated, or worried. That's where therapy for your child or teen can help! You want a therapist that can connect with your child and help them function and feel better. You want a therapist that will listen and see you for who you are: a caring and loving parent that is trying their best. You want a therapist that can help your family feel less stressed and overwhelmed.
**I am currently not accepting new clients at this time due to being at caseload capacity. Please check back later.** Therapy is essential at times because we all hit rough spots that are beyond the scope of our natural support network of family and friends. I think that most people are aware of the solutions to their problems but require the therapist's help in devising the framework to solve them. I strive to gain insight into areas of concern and then work with clients to uncover blindspots and alter thoughts and behaviors that are preventing them from leading their best quality of life.
Feeling scared? Worried about this pandemic? Is homeschooling your child feeling overwhelming? Are you wondering if your response or your child's response to everything is normal? During this pandemic, many people are finding that the ways that they have coped with stress in the past are not helping as well as it has before. Everyone reacts to stressful situations differently and the Covid-19 pandemic is unprecedented. Having fear and anxiety is normal. However, if you are finding that either you or your family member is experiencing anxiety or fear that is becoming overwhelming, therapy can help provide coping skills and relief.

You feel like you're always on edge all the time. It feels like you're wound up like a top and never get to unravel and relax. Everything in your body hurts on the reg. You can't remember a day without pain and discomfort. Nothing helps, you've lost trust in going to the doctor, and you've begun to loathe your body. Everything else in your life is falling apart too because you BARELY have enough energy left at the end of the day. You've pretty much given up hope.
New clients welcome! I have many options for appointment times. I have had the privilege to work with diverse populations and individuals from different cultures.
