I focus on helping people with high-functioning autism (Asperger's). I am a person who has been successful in three career paths with Asperger's. I also teach online for two major universities, including classes on Psychopharmacology. I can be an excellent resource for your psychiatrist or general practice doctor in helping you with medications. I am also Executive Director of an 11 location counseling cooperative in Wisconsin. I do limit my caseload but have over 40 counselors in our group I can refer you to for various issues and consult them.
One of the bravest things you can do is to start to understand your own story. No matter where you are in your self-exploration, my goal is to meet you where you're at. Together we will identify your goals and utilize your unique strengths to live a more fulfilled life.
My goal is to meet all clients where they are at on their journeys. Through the use of a combination of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness, my clients have found peace and success in moving forward through difficult life situations. Each client has a unique story; I am determined to discover the story and assist the client in exploring the possibilities of a well balanced life. In providing a safe place to explore the feelings of disappointment, grief, anxiety, depression, and addiction, current and former clients have discovered these temporary vices prevent the client from moving forward.
Entering into counseling takes both courage and vulnerability. I treat children, teens, adults, families, and couples, using an approach of trust and mutual respect, believing that every person is doing the best they can and has the ability to grow and learn. Identifying and drawing forth personal skills and strengths as well as an action plan for change is crucial for problem resolution. I address all areas to self-healing, working with body, mind, and Spirit. People are whole beings and all areas truly are connected.
Welcome and Congratulations on taking the first step towards your wellness! Choosing a counselor can be tough. I aspire at providing a safe, relaxed and empathetic space that allows individuals and families to gain awareness, learn effective coping strategies, and promoting a supportive environment. Through a collaborative process, we will work towards overcoming obstacles, work towards your goals and discover your path of self-discovery and self-acceptance. I promote a relaxed environment with some humor to create a therapeutic environment. I look forward to helping you on your journey. I take evening appointments.
In our world today, cultivating satisfying, fulfilling relationships while maintaining a healthy body and spirit is a difficult task. Individuals, couples, and families come to me because they may feel stuck in their lives, bogged down by a recurrent problem, or are simply wanting to build a happier, more fulfilling life. The decision to seek therapy is rarely an easy one, so I work hard to create an atmosphere of warmth and collaboration. I recognize that real-life, tangible results are an integral part of therapy; my clients leave feeling empowered and with a specific understanding of themselves that leads to long-lasting change.
Some people, including myself, have had a point in life where they feel there is something more in life, but don't know how to get there. Others may have gotten to a point where they don't feel they have potential. No matter where you are at-broken, stuck, or just feel you need someone to guide you in your journey, I can help you. I love to work with people people through their struggles by taking a relational and evidence based approach that focuses on using ones strength to accomplish their purpose.
Exhale. There are a million thoughts running through your mind as you look for the right therapist. Not to mention the reason you're seeking therapy. How can you tell who will suit you best? Should you close your eyes and pick at random? Maybe your job has been demanding, and relationships feel like work. Maybe school is becoming increasingly stressful, or you just need someone to talk to. There is no “wrong” reason to seek therapy. Whether you have specific issues you need to process, or you’re simply not feeling like yourself, we can work on personal growth and sustainable coping skills that will benefit your lifestyle.
I am passionate about working with women, families, and adolescents work through life's challenges. Life can sometimes leave us feeling anxiety ridden, confused, alone, and disconnected. I believe in looking at individuals as a whole, and walking their journey towards better well-being together. Through warmth and understanding, I strive to help clients reach a place of feeling complete and healthy.
In modern society, we delegate the title of "artist" to an increasingly select few. But I believe there is an artist in everyone, and discovering that potential involves the process of unlearning the large role that negative self-talk has in our everyday lives. I see counseling as the next step in a lifelong process of learning: learning about yourself and the world around you. While the traditional education system is built for a select few, I aim to meet at the place where you feel most skilled, and build from there to widen your prospects and help you realize your dreams.
The decision to seek therapy is not an easy one. I aim to make that decision as easy and comfortable as possible. I have a gentle personality and use a touch of humor to help make each client feel welcome and at ease. Individuals, couples, and families come to me because they need to work through a problem or issue. This might be anxiety, grief, couples or family counseling, health, loss of a job, or looking to build a happier, more fulfilling life, or numerous other reasons. I work hard to build an atmosphere that allows people to feel safe and understood. When clients leave, they feel healthier, happier, and more whole.
