Skill building to clarify and address mental health needs, DBT and CBT skill application, increasing confidence and self-esteem, and creating targeted SMART goals are primary elements of my practice. I provide a collaborative space for teens and adults to explore their emotions, relationships, current and earlier life challenges. My relational, processed-focused approach is about using self understanding as a catalyst for change. My ideal client is seeking more than just symptom relief or 'tips and tricks,' although I do believe coping skills are a necessary foundation for deeper work. If you're looking to build insight, self-compassion and emotional understanding, we may work well together. Typically, I assign in-between session practices, but I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Some of the people I support are kids and teens struggling with big emotions, neurodivergence, or anxiety that makes the world feel too loud.
Most clients I see want more than a quick fix, they’re ready to grow, heal, and feel more whole. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, Motivational Interviewing, and Positive Psychology. With my Art Therapy background, I also integrate creative tools like art, music, movement, and play to support expression and healing.

I am also very familiar w/ anxiety, depression, addiction, sexual/identity struggles, and PTSD.
Understanding ourselves and our lives can be difficult. On the one hand, our inner critics may be so loud, self-examination is torturous. On the other, well-meaning people in our lives may be so eager to validate us that we are never quite sure we're getting a real picture of who we are. So, counseling is essentially about receiving the support to work creatively with all of this noise long enough to allow change to happen in and through you. The only way to do this to let someone get to know the real you. If we can do that, therapy can be a deeply authentic, radically human, even life-changing encounter!

You’re not “too much” or “too anxious
I’m trained in EMDR therapy, which helps your brain and body gently reprocess painful memories so they feel less overwhelming. In sessions, you stay grounded while we briefly bring a memory to mind, notice what shifts in your body in real time, and move through it slowly so your system can establish a sense of safety again.

I have experience working with adults who suffer from depression and anxiety that impact their sense of wellbeing.
Life can be messy and often times we find the tools we possess are not up for the challenge. This is normal, although distressing nonetheless. It's my objective to create a welcoming space that fosters trust and respect. I have worked with individuals, families, and couples for over twenty years in a variety of settings. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with an addiction specialty, although I consider myself a generalist. I enjoy connecting with others, validating their experience, while also building skills and courage toward change.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
